Derrick Henry and Reese Witherspoon have joined the Nashville SC ownership group.

    Reese Witherspoon, technology businessman Jim Toth, and Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry have all become minority owners of the Major League Soccer team in Nashville, SC. In a news statement, major owner John Ingram stated, “We meant it when we said we were doing this in Nashville, with Nashville, and for Nashville.”

    “The addition of Derrick, Reese, and Jim to our group demonstrates our commitment to becoming a club that will do things to the highest standard and with the finest Nashville has to offer.” Henry joined quarterback Patrick Mahomes (Sporting Kansas City), running back Mark Ingram (D.C. United), and quarterback Russell Wilson is regarded as notable individuals with valuable intentions to own the club.

    Henry remarked, “I dreamed of being a professional sports owner as a youngster growing up in Florida, and the opportunity to do so with a Major League Soccer club is definitely a dream come true.” My investment in Nashville, SC is more than just a financial one; it’s a true investment in the community. I didn’t want to lose out on the chance to be a part of a club like Nashville SC, especially after seeing what they’re doing in the community.

    Reese Witherspoon mirrored Henry’s enthusiasm, applauding the squad’s progress since their 2020 debut in the American League as an expansion team. Witherspoon stated that the team, management, and players have all worked really hard to create this incredible organization.

    So I’m ecstatic to say that my husband, Jim Toth, and I have invested in the club and are now part of the ownership group. On behalf of Jim and our children, we are ecstatic to be a part of the NSC family. The announcement comes as Nashville SC prepares to open GEODIS Park, the world’s largest soccer-specific stadium, on May 1.

    After three victories, two draws, and three losses to begin the 2022 season, Nashville SC is presently in ninth place in the Eastern Conference table. Henry joins Mark Ingram (D.C. United), Patrick Mahomes (Sporting Kansas City), and Russell Wilson (Washington Redskins) as the fourth NFL player to buy an MLS team (Seattle Sounders). It’s unknown how much money Henry and the other two new members put up.
