Dele Alli’s former girlfriend, Ruby Mae, has warned ladies who are planning on becoming lovers of footballers (WAGs) to be cautious of such a move.
Most ladies believed dating a world-class football player with huge wages comes with the assumption of a never-ending shopping spree around the United Kingdom.
Ruby Mae dated former Tottenham Hotspur superstar Dele Alli for five years, until February 2021 when they went their separate ways.
In her latest interview, Mae was questioned about whether she would consider dating another football player.
She replied, saying, “No, no! Oh no.” Mae then reflected on her previous relationship with football stars over the years.
She said, “I don’t think you should ever be like, I wouldn’t do that,’ because I have done it. There is a negative thing about being called a WAG, and I’d prefer not to be called a WAG. I have a name, but at the same time, it is a bit of fun, really.”
How Did Ruby Mae Meet Dele Alli Even Before the Everton Player Became a Superstar?
Initially, it was never Mae’s intention to date a football star. She was building her own career as a model for big fashion companies like Dolce & Gabbana and Chanel when she met Alli on the streets of London.
They bumped into each other while she was on vacation. Dele kept asking her for a drink, and Mae replied, “Oh, all right, I’ll have a drink.”
They bumped into each other again in the United Kingdom, and that was where the relationship started between the pair in 2016. They spend more and more time together.
During that period, Mae, who came from Leicester, was a huge fan of the Championship side, Leicester City. However, when she started dating Alli, he proceeded to support Tottenham Hotspur during their time together.
When the couples were together, things went better for the football star. In 2017, he was regarded as one of the most sought-after youngsters in the world.
La Liga giant Real Madrid were offering a huge amount of money towards signing the midfielder, but Tottenham Hotspur at the time were not interested in selling the player.
A year later, the midfielder jetted off to Russia with the England squad to represent the country. It was revealed that the player was worth £88 million at that time.
The fans pinned hope on him to help the England squad deliver their first major title. Mae was also present in Russia to show her utmost support for Alli, who scored against Sweden to help England qualify for the World Cup semi-finals for the first time in 28 years.
