When did Dean Henderson join Manchester United?

Dean Henderson spent 12 years at Manchester United, having joined the club in August 2011, aged 14.

The England international has had loan spells at several clubs, as he couldn’t displace the first-choice goalkeeper at Manchester United.

Henderson got his breakthrough into the first team on August 14, 2020, when he was included in Manchester United’s senior squad list for the first time.

He made his senior debut for the Red Devils on September 22, 2020, in a 3-0 win for Manchester United over Luton Town in the English Football League Cup.

Despite making 13 league appearances in the 2020/21 season, Dean Henderson couldn’t displace then first-choice shot-stopper David De Gea.

Before 2020/21 when he made his debut for the Old Trafford club, the 26-year-old also eschewed his brilliance on loan at Sheffield United.

However, he couldn’t stake a claim for a starting shirt at the Manchester-based club, Henderson was also loaned out to Nottingham Forest for the 2022/23 season.

In the 2022/23 season, he also displayed his brilliance between the sticks for the Tricky Trees, amassing 6 clean sheets in 18 league appearances.

Henderson is a brilliant goalkeeper, but unfortunately due to competition and managerial choice, he couldn’t own the number 1 shirt at Manchester United.

The 26-year-old has featured for England at Under 16, 17, 20, and 21 levels, and he has also earned one cap with the senior national team of England.

Dean Henderson was part of England’s squad that won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and he was also amongst the squad that finished as finalists for the 2020 European Championships.

He made 29 appearances for Manchester United, amassing 7 clean sheets across all competitions.
