Dean Henderson has penned an emotional farewell message to Manchester United fans following the confirmation of his departure from the club.
Henderson has joined Crystal Palace from Manchester United for a fee of £15 million, with the inclusion of £5 million in add-ons.
In a post shared by Dean Henderson across his social platforms, he revealed that bidding “goodbye to Manchester United is an emotional moment” for him.
The Englishman also thanked everyone at the club for their support in shaping his career, he wrote:
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone in the club who believed in my potential and helped shape my career.
“To everyone in the academy, my teammates, my family, the managers ,and the back room staff, your guidance and support has helped me become the player and man I am today.”
He continued by writing that wearing the United badge on his chest was always an honor that couldn’t be fully expressed with words.
Henderson stated: “I’ve been United since I was a kid, and being able to wear the United badge on my chest has been an honor beyond words.”
Additionally, he wished Manchester United all the best for the future and thanked the club for the memories shared.
He wrote: “Thank you for the memories and I wish the club all the very best for the future. United ❤️👊🏼”
The 26-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Eagles, which is valid until June 30, 2023.
When did Dean Henderson join Manchester United?
Dean Henderson spent 12 years at Manchester United, having joined the club in August 2011, aged 14.
The England international has had loan spells at several clubs, as he couldn’t displace the first-choice goalkeeper at Manchester United.
Henderson got his breakthrough into the first team on August 14, 2020, when he was included in Manchester United’s senior squad list for the first time.
He made his senior debut for the Red Devils on September 22, 2020, in a 3-0 win for Manchester United over Luton Town in the English Football League Cup.
Despite making 13 league appearances in the 2020/21 season, Dean Henderson couldn’t displace then first-choice shot-stopper David De Gea.
Before 2020/21 when he made his debut for the Old Trafford club, the 26-year-old also eschewed his brilliance on loan at Sheffield United.
However, he couldn’t stake a claim for a starting shirt at the Manchester-based club, Henderson was also loaned out to Nottingham Forest for the 2022/23 season.
In the 2022/23 season, he also displayed his brilliance between the sticks for the Tricky Trees, amassing 6 clean sheets in 18 league appearances.

Henderson went on loan to 5 clubs during his time at Old Trafford, moving to Stockport County, Grimsby Town, Shrewsbury Town, Sheffield United, and Nottingham Forest.
Henderson is a brilliant goalkeeper, but unfortunately due to competition and managerial choice, he couldn’t own the number 1 shirt at Manchester United.
The 26-year-old has featured for England at Under 16, 17, 20, and 21 levels, and he has also earned one cap with the senior national team of England.
Dean Henderson was part of England’s squad that won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and he was also amongst the squad that finished as finalists for the 2020 European Championships.
