Nigerian Afrobeat artist, Davido was featured in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar theme song titled ‘Hayya Hayya’ (Better Together). This has made him the first singer from Nigeria to feature in a FIFA World Cup theme song.
The theme song featured 22-year-old American R&B singer and social media personality, Trinidad Cardona, and 32-year-old American J-R&B singer, AISHA.
The excited Afrobeat superstar took to his Twitter page on Friday to announce to his 10.8 million followers that he was featured in the theme song.
“I’m honored to be featured on the Official @FIFAWorldCup 2022 Soundtrack,” Davido tweeted earlier today, three days after the Super Eagles of Nigeria lost the FIFA World Cup ticket in Abuja.

Between now and November, the FIFA World Cup month, a series of songs are expected to be released in celebration of the World Cup in Qatar.
The ‘Hayya Hayya’ (Better Together) is the first of the series of soundtracks that will be released ahead of the World Cup. As part of the arrangement for the FIFA World Cup draw in Doha, Qatar on Friday, April 1, the theme song will be performed for the first time during the ceremony.
Based on this, Davido who recently sold out the O2 Arena in London is expected to perform the song alongside Trinidad Cardona and AISHA.
The song could also be performed during the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup on November 21 and probably during the closing ceremony on December 18, 2022.
Note that the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar is the first World Cup to be held in the Middle East and the Arab world as a whole. It is the second World Cup held in Asia after the 2022 edition of the tournament which was hosted by South Korea and Japan.
Qatar World Cup will be one of the most historic editions of the tournament because it will be the last to involve 32 teams. The number of participants in the tournament is expected to increase to 48 teams in the next edition which will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada in 2026.
