Former Manchester City captain, David Silva has shown that he has not passed his prime by creating two goals for Real Sociedad in their 4-1 win over Huesca to top the La Liga table.

The 34-year-old joined Sociedad on a free transfer from City this summer. After going in front in the first half from the spot-kick converted by Mikel Oyarzabal, Silva raised the bar in the second half to set up goals for Cristian Portu and Alexander Isak.

Huesca had restored parity a minute into the second half before Silva’s show. Oyarzabal then restored hosts’ lead.

Silva played 76 minutes and had 63 tourches against Huesca

The former Spain international has so far played seven matches this season, creating two assists and receiving two yellow cards in the process.

The win takes Sociedad a point clear of champions Real Madrid, who won 3-1 at Barcelona over the weekend. Meanwhile, Zinedine Zidane’s side still has a game in hand.

Sociedad, who won the La Liga title twice in their history last won it during the 1981-82 campaign.
