Speculations on the future of Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea must have been summarily shut down after David de Gea revealed his position on his Manchester United’s future.

Based on his statement, David de Gea is ready to commit his future to the Red Devils and is pursuing contract renewal with the club.

The Spaniard is a regular starter and respected member of the Manchester United squad despite playing under several different managers.

De Gea replaced the Legendary Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar and has emerged as a top goalie for the Red Devils since joining the team in 2011.

De Gea will make his 500th appearance for the Red Devils in their Premier League clash with Newcastle United and will be the 11th player to achieve that feat in Manchester United.

This season, De Gea has started every match in the Premier League, including the Europa League this season.

De Gea committed several blunders in Manchester United’s Premier League matchday two encounter against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Red Devils suffered a shock 4-0 defeat to the Bees, with all four goals conceded in the first 35 minutes of the first half.

Since then, De Gea has picked up form and helped United secure five Premier League wins in six matches.

De Gea’s Man United contract will expire at the end of this season with an option for an extension by one year.

David de Gea is one of the top earners in Manchester United and is the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world, with a weekly wage of £375,000.

Clarifying his position on his Man United future, David de Gea revealed that he is happy at Man United adding that he has a lot to offer the club.

“This is my club and I feel good here. I’m playing very well. I still have many more years to play. I’m very confident,” De Gea said.

“Yes, I would like to stay for more years and play more games and set records of everything. To also help the young people here with my experience and win trophies.”

De Gea had a difficult time after signing his last contract in the 2020/21 season.

Manchester United reserve goalkeeper and England international Dean Henderson missed out on an opportunity to replace de Gea after contracting Covid-19 in 2021.

“I feel very good in games and training. Of course, the more experience you have the better. So, yes, I think I’m in my peak years,” De Gea added.

“I feel good and most importantly to win trophies and help the team every day.”

However, it is still unclear whether Manchester United will offer the Spaniard a new contract.

As things stand, David de Gea may likely retire at Old Trafford if Manchester United is willing to strike another deal to keep him at Old Trafford.
