Manchester United vice captain Bruno Fernandes has aimed a subtle dig at Manchester United following the inglorious exit of David De Gea.

Bruno Fernandes seemed not to spare the club as he took a swipe at how the club treated David De Gea leading to the exit of the Spaniard.

While sending his emotional farewell message to David De Gea, Bruno Fernandes said David De Gea should have been allowed to say goodbye to the fans on the field.

Taking to his Instagram stories, he wrote “You deserved to say goodbye at the stadium with all the fans cheering you for all the beautiful memories.

“You made history at the club and your name will never be forgotten, and no one can take that away from you.

“All the best for what’s coming for you and your family.”

The Portuguese farewell message was a clear rejection of Man United’s handling of David De Gea’s contract renewal saga, leading to the exit of the iconic goalkeeper who have spent almost his entire career with the club.

Other Man United players React to David De Gea’s exit

Other Manchester United players took to their social media handle to react to the shock exit of David De Gea, with others taking to De Gea’s comment section to send in their farewells and prayers for the player.

Fred expressed his joy and privilege of working with David De Gea stating his deep admiration and respect for the player.

“What a great pleasure to play and work with you legend. One of the great friends I have made in football. You have all my respect and admiration and I wish you the best in your next challenge.”

Casemiro hailed De Gea’s achievement with the club and how he had endeared himself to the fans as a Man United player. He wrote;

“David my mate!!! You made history with Man United. You will always be a Red Devil and these fans will continue to support you wherever your next challenge leads you. You will always be one of us. My best whishes.”

Manchester United prolific forward and fast-rising youngster Marcus Rashford went back memory lane stating how David de Gea witnessed his breakthrough into Man United first team as he wished the United legend good luck.

“You were here from my breakthrough, good luck with your next step brother.”

Manchester United Victor Lindelof wrote in De Gea’s comment section, “My brother, I love you so much.”

Winger Facundu Pellistri added he will miss David De Gea; “You are a legend and an incredible person, I will miss you,” he said.

Manchester United last summer signing from Ajax, Antony and Christian Eriksen took to the comment section to share red heart emojis as they joined others to bid the legendary goalie farewell.

David De Gea skips Ten Hag in Man United exit announcement

Taking to his social media handles, David De Gea announced his exit from Manchester United, thanking the fans for the support throughout his 12 years at the club adding it was a pride to have donned the shirt and soar in his career with the club.

De Gea seems to omit the current Man United management led by Erik Ten Hag while making reference to Sir Alex Ferguson who brought him to the club.

“I just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United supporters.

“I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years.

“We’ve achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club.

“I took incredible pride everytime I pulled on this shirt, to lead the team, to represent this institution, the biggest club in the world was an honour only bestows upon a few lucky footballers.

“It’s been an unforgettable and successful period since I came here. I didn’t think from leaving Madrid as a young boy we would achieve what we did together.

“Now, it’s the right time to undertake a new challenge, to push myself again in new surroundings.

“Manchester will always be in my heart, Manchester has shaped me and will never leave me. We’ve seen it all.”

Futballnews understands David De Gea is leaving Manchester United as an unsung hero after he seems to have fallen down the pecking order in Ten Hag’s new Man United style of play.

The dragging and ill-fated contract renewal process in which the club emerged with a drastically reduced wage offer twice affirmed Ten Hag’s lack of faith in De Gea in his Man United rebuilding project.

However, some Man United players like Bruno Fernandes believed the club would have given David de Gea a more befitting farewell on the field instead of being unceremoniously axed from the squad.

David De joined Manchester United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and played for 12 years for the club. He was the longest-serving Man United player and the last player remaining from Alex Ferguson’s era.

He won the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, Community Shield, and EFL Cup making a record 545 appearances for the club.

He is linked with a move to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia where he could reunite with his former teammate and another Man United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, who was also unceremoniously axed from Man United under Erik Ten Hag.
