David Beckham was full of praise for Lionel Messi after the Argentine football sensation clinch his 8th Ballon d’Or award.
It was more of an iconic moment for both Leo and Beckham in Paris as the English football legend crossed paths with Lionel Messi at the biggest football awards ceremony.
While African and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba anchored the award ceremony, David Beckham was done the honor of presenting the prestigious award to Lionel Messi.
With a face beaming with smiles, David Beckham mounted the podium and presented the award to Messi with a applause from from the guests.
Taking to his social media, Beckham relish the honor to hand Lionel Messi the award and revealed his pride of having the best player in the world at Inter Miami.
He wrote, “Huge honour to present Leo with his 8th Ballon d’Or in Paris. Such a special night for him and his family and it was a privilege to celebrate to celebrate such an incredible achievement. Miami are truly honored to have The Best. Congratulations my friend.”
The presentation of the award allowed David Beckham to meet Messi off the turfs of DRV PNK Stadium at Inter Miami but at a bigger stage. Beckham was instrumental to Lionel Messi’s decision to join Inter Miami in the summer and was pretty boastful of bringing an elite footballer to the MLS.
Sharing the stage with Lionel Messi in Paris and having the privilege to do the presentation of the award must have passed as one of Beckham’s best moment.
