David Beckham has done well for Lionel Messi by employing a former US soldier and MMA fighter to safeguard the Argentine star at Inter Miami.

The former FC Barcelona playmaker joined the MLS outfit this summer following the expiration of his contract with Paris Saint Germain and has been enjoying life on and off the field since joining the American club side.

Inter Miami have been enjoying Lionel Messi’s presence, with the club registering eight games unbeaten since the acquisition of the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner, who joined the MLS side has registered ten goals in eight matches since his debut on July 21, in a league cup match against Mexican side Cruz Azul.

Inter Miami have successfully won the League Cup by defeating Nashville through a penalty shootout and they’ll lock horns against Houston Dynamo in the US Open Cup on the 27th of September, 2023, after the four-time UEFA Champions League winner helped them complete another dramatic comeback against Cincinnati.

However, despite the recent success of Messi at Inter Miami, it was his personal bodyguard who David Beckham hired that made the headline.

David Beckham employs Yassine Chueko, a former US soldier and fighter to protect Lionel Messi

The only man to get close to Lionel Messi in MLS is Yassine Chueko personally selected by the club owner David Beckham to follow him everywhere as his protector, even shadowing him while he’s celebrating a goal with his teammates.

What happened?

Lionel Messi’s fairy story in MLS proceeded with Inter Miami’s 5-4 penalty shootout triumph in the semi-finals of the US Open Cup against Cincinnati on Wednesday night, 23rd of August.

The 36-year-old provided assists on both goals in loss time as Inter Miami rebounded from a 2-0 deficit to force overtime, where they ultimately prevailed from the penalty spot.

By doing so, the newly created team advanced to the final of the country’s oldest and most renowned knockout football competition, which dates back to 1913. This is the team’s second final appearance since Messi’s arrival last month.

Despite Messi’s on-field success, it was the bodyguard who got all the attention.

The bodyguard, who La Nacion claims is former US soldier Yassine Chueko, ran along the sideline and even proceeded past the corner flag when Messi and his Miami teammates celebrated Leonardo Campana’s equalizer deep into stoppage time on Wednesday.

David Beckham, co-owner of Inter Miami, has apparently been involved in bringing Messi’s bodyguard on board.

According to reports, Chueko is a former Navy Seal who fought in multiple mixed martial arts matches and has experience in martial arts, taekwondo, and boxing. He has seen war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Beckham’s selection of Chueko may be due in part to the increased frequency of pitch invaders in recent seasons.

The excitement about Messi’s impressive debut in the United States makes this choice look even better.

Chueko follows the Argentine superstar everywhere he goes, from the team bus to the locker room, and to the sidelines during games.
