David Beckham, the co-founder of Major League Soccer club, Inter Miami, has noted that the club is opened to bringing players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to MLS.
Ronaldo and Messi have been career rivals for over 14 years. They are seen by the majority of football fans as two of the greatest footballers of all time and they are two of the most followed footballers in the world.
In the last 15 years, the two players have won the most of the Ballon d’Or. They have claimed 11 of the award, 5 for Ronaldo and 6 for Lionel Messi.
Ronaldo who currently plays for Italian Serie A side, Juventus, has once said he intends to play in MLS at some point in his football career. However, the 35-year-old Portuguese forward did not reveal his dream MLS club.
Also, his 33-year-old counterpart, Lionel Messi, has revealed that he would not mind playing in the MLS. The FC Barcelona and Argentine football star will be out of contract at Barcelona in June 2021, and his next move has not been known.
Hence, during fans event preceding the commencement of MLS pre-season, David Beckham was asked whether he would like to bring in Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo to Inter Miami. David Beckham who has overseen the signing of Blaise Matuidi and Gonzalo Higuain at the club said Ronaldo and Messi are the types of players Inter Miami aspire to sign.

“Without a doubt, those are the type of players that we aspire to bring to our club”, David Beckham said.
“I think that the fans would really appreciate that. But, you know, as owners, we want players here that are driven, that want to win, and that’s our priority.
“With Blaise Matuidi and Gonzalo, these are players that we feel add to the glitz and the glamour of what the club is.
“Going forward, we also want to bring other players in if we have the opportunity to bring some great names in, you obviously mentioned Leo and Cristiano.
“They’ve been at the top of their game for the last 15 years because of hard work. Sir Alex Ferguson was a master at it.
“He didn’t always bring in the best player in the world. He didn’t always bring in the top player. He bought the right player for the club.
“And I think that that’s the one thing that I take into our club, is the player has to be right.”
The Major League Soccer pre-season is expected to commence on March 8, 2021. While the regular season of the league is expected to kick-off on Saturday, April 17, 2021.
