According to Danny Mills, the current best player in the world declined in his performance last season. However, he added that Lionel Messi is the greatest footballer he has watched and places him above his rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Argentinian hitman joined Paris Saint-Germain last season and had a difficult season in what was his worst season ever. The seven times Ballon d’Or winner managed to score just one Ligue 1 goal in 25 games.

However, he added another trophy to his name by winning the French Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain but failed to make it past the UEFA Champions League last 16 with the team.

While speaking about Messi’s recent performance, Danny Mills revealed that he didn’t watch other great players like Diego Maradona, or Cruyff which made him conclude that Lionel Messi is the greatest.

He added that Cristiano Ronaldo’s goals might be slightly different from what Lionel Messi has and that he’s a better big-game player than the Argentinian.

“We’re talking Premier League aren’t we realistically. Liverpool wouldn’t take him, City wouldn’t take him, Tottenham wouldn’t take him. No, I don’t think they would,” he said.

Mills made his remarks regarding Messi after Liverpool made three summer signings. The Reds signed Darwin Nunez from Benfica for £65 million, Calvin Ramsay moved from Aberdeen, and Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho joined on a free transfer.

However, Liverpool’s transfer window is anticipated to close at that point, with Jurgen Klopp prepared to postpone strengthening his midfield until 2023 despite being linked with moves for Youri Tielemans and Jude Bellingham.

Manchester City have also been busy in the summer transfer window with the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for a significant sum of money. Stefan Ortega joined them from Arminia Bielefeld to improve their goalkeeping options and Julian Alvarez moved from River Plate. 26-year-old Kalvin Phillips has also moved from Leeds to Manchester to become their newest signing.

Tottenham’s summer has gotten off to an equally busy start with Antonio Conte eager to improve his team before the season opener against Southampton. Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, and Richarlison have all joined the North London club as they prepare to compete for trophies the following season,
