The coach of Aston Villa, Steven Gerrard confirmed that Danny Ings was not named in the squad that traveled to the Molineux Stadium for a Premier League game against Wolves because he became a father overnight.
In the absence of the 29-year-old English striker, Wolves defeated Aston Villa 2-1 to climb to the seventh spot on the league table.
After the defeat, the media could not help but ask what happened to Danny Ings that he was not named for the league game. Steven Gerrard was left with no choice but to make it public that Ings became a father the night before the match.
“Danny Ings, I’m sure he won’t mind me saying, has become a dad overnight”, Steven Gerrard confirmed on Saturday.
“He’s had very little sleep, he had to go down to London.
“We want to send our congratulations to Danny and his partner.
“It didn’t make sense to ask him to come and be part of today, so that was forced on us.”

Steven Gerrard’s announcement could be against what Danny Ings wanted. From all indications, the striker wanted to keep the news that he has become a father prevent.
A check on Ings’ Instagram page and story showed that the 29-year-old striker has not mentioned anything about the arrival of his newborn.
His verified Instagram page with over 767,000 followers is purely about him and his football career as he did not post anything about his relationship on the platform as of today, April 3, 2022.
Hence, at the time of publishing this report, the name of the newborn baby and the baby’s gender has not been known.
Is Danny Ings in a relationship?
The fact that Aston Villa coach, Steven Gerrard confirmed that Danny Ings became a father on Friday night, April 1, the 29-year-old striker is definitely in a relationship. But at the time of publishing this report, it could not be confirmed who birthed a child for the Premier League player.
