Daniel Levy, Tottenham Hotspur chairman has been informed by the club’s owner to let go of Harry Kane this summer transfer window, amid panic of losing him for free in the summer of 2024.
According to reports, the North London club owner Joe Lewis has told the club’s chairman to grant the 29-year-old striker a contract request due to the ongoing transfer saga linking him with a move to Germain Bundesliga.
Levy, the 61-year-old is now facing a massive verdict considering the future of the English frontman at Tottenham Hotspur.
What happened between Tottenham Hotspur and Harry Kane?
The former Arsenal academy product has entered the last 12 months of his current contract with the North London club as Bayern Munich proceeds to push for the 29-year-old striker.
The England International has been linked with a move away from Tottenham with Manchester United among several top European clubs looking to secure his service.
However, Manchester United suffered a setback in pursuit of Kane due to the asking price placed on the striker by the club chairman Daniel Levy.
Several British outlets have reported that the club will threaten to sell Kane this summer if he does not sign a new contract.
Joe Lewis, the owner of Tottenham Hotspur, has made it clear to Daniel Levy, the club’s chairman, that he does not want to lose Harry Kane for free in 2024.
While Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has stated categorically that Harry Kane will not be sold this summer, The Telegraph has reported that owner Joe Lewis has determined that the England star will not be allowed to run down his contract and go for free next year.
Similar to the ultimatum Paris Saint-Germain made to Kylian Mbappe earlier this summer, he will either sign a new contract or they will accept an offer from one of his transfer pursuers.
Spurs new position might see Erik ten Hag’s squad back in the race after United’s interest in the forward appeared to fade down due to Levy’s alleged £100 million asking price.
As PSG look for a successor for Mbappe, they may switch attention to Kane. Though, they will have to fend off interest from Bayern Munich, who have had two bids rejected by Tottenham.
The 29-year-old has become Spurs’ all-time leading striker, solidifying his place in the club history even though he is yet to win a trophy with the north London club.
Tottenham is reportedly willing to give the 29-year-old striker as much as £400,000 per week to stay, but Bayern Munich are planning a third offer for Kane and does not believe the striker wants to sign a new contract with Tottenham.
What’s next for Harry Kane?
