The top-rated right-back picked up a hamstring issue during Real Madrid’s last La Liga match before the October international break.
He underwent surgery due to the injury and has been ruled out of the season. Sharing an update on his progress after surgery, the footballer recounted his pains and ‘feelings that are hard to manage’ but added he is emboldened by the love and care.
“It’s already been a week since the surgery with painful moments, long nights, and feelings that are hard to manage.
“But at the same time, I felt so strong and loved by all around me. They make this process more gentle,” he wrote on Instagram, sharing footage of himself in the hospital bed.

Dani Carvajal’s wife, Daphne Canizeres, took to social media to share a touching tribute to the footballer following the injury.
The beautiful blonde and mother-of-two shared footage of injured Carvajal carted away for surgery with a heart-rending tribute.
Writing in Spanish, Canizeres cited the resilience of the player in trying to make her happy despite his ordeal as she conveyed her poetic and emotion-laden message.
She also reaffirmed her love for him and wished him to return stronger soon.
“It still feels like a bad dream. Seeing how sad you were and how much pain you were in… yet you still tried to make me smile.”
“I love you and I admire you so much. Today marks the beginning of your journey to return to where you are happiest. Stronger. Because you always give your all. There is much more for you to gain, my life,” she wrote on Instagram.
Real Madrid renew Dani Carvajal’s contract despite injury blow
Before the devastating injury, Carvajal had a year remaining on his Real Madrid contract. He was expected to enter into contract talks with other clubs in January 2025 with a few months left in the deal with Los Blancos.
Now, the 32-year-old has secured his future with the club until the summer of 2026. Hours after he was stretchered off the pitch in the Villarreal match. Real Madrid confirmed the club have decided to extend the player’s contract.
“Real Madrid C. F. announces that, as planned, the club has agreed with Dani Carvajal to extend the player’s contract, which will keep him at the club until 30 June 2026,” Real Madrid club statement reads.
Real Madrid’s decision to extend Carvajal’s contract is a rare gesture by a Football Club. It is understood the club had agreed with the player to extend his deal. However, it was widely thought they would reverse their decision due to the injury to the player which will sideline him for the rest of the season but that was not the case.
As a matter of goodwill and respect for the player, the club settled to renew the deal as planned, describing him as a ‘legend of the club.’
Carvajal will be back to action for Los Blancos but in the 2025-26 season, thanks to his renewed contract with the club. He has been an integral member of the team since his 2010-11 breakout season.
