    An official statement on the club’s website confirming the appointment of the English football veteran as manager reads;

    “Roy Hodgson has been appointed manager of Crystal Palace F.C. until the end of the season, with Paddy McCarthy taking the role as his assistant manager, and Ray Lewington returning as first-team coach. Dean Kiely will remain in his position as goalkeeping coach.”

    The management of Crystal Palace sacked Patrick Vieira after a dismal Premier League campaign that plunge the team into the relegation battle in the Premier League.

    Crystal Palace had struggled in the Premier League, failing to win a single game after Premier League action resumed after the World Cup break in 2023.

    The club went winless in 12 straight matches and were forced to slump to the 12th position on the table, only three points above the relegation zone.

    The last straw that severed the relationship between Patrick Vieira and the club’s management was the loss to Brighton. After the defeat to the Seagulls, the former France international was shown the exit door.

    Paddy McCarthy was appointed interim manager. McCarthy took charge of the game against Arsenal and lost 4-1 to the Premier League title hopefuls in the club’s first game after the sack of Patrick Veira.

    Now, the club have confirmed the appointment of Roy Hodgson as the new manager to succeed Patrick Vieira.
