Cristiano Ronaldo’s new club Al-Nassr has denied rumours that he has a clause in his contract to serve as an ambassador in Saudi Arabia for 2030 World Cup bid.

A pledge to support Saudi Arabia’s ambition to host the 2030 World Cup is not stated in Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract, according to Al Nassr.

The five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or signed a staggering contract of £175 million per year with Al-Nassr, who is presently leading the Saudi Pro League.

In a statement released on Tuesday night, Al-Nassr refuted claims that they forced Cristiano Ronaldo to sign a contract that included a commitment to support the 2030 World Cup bid.

Al-Nassr denied rumors that Ronaldo received an additional €200 million ($214 million) to serve as an ambassador for Saudi Arabia’s quest to host the 2030 World Cup.

This is contrary to rumours in Spain at the end of December that Ronaldo is also scheduled to serve as an ambassador for Saudi Arabia’s 2030 World Cup bid according to a provision in his Al-Nassr contract.

Following in the footsteps of his arch-rival Lionel Messi, he has reportedly decided to support the Middle Eastern nation’s joint effort with Egypt and Greece to host the competition.

However, Al-Nassr, Ronaldo’s new club, refuted claims that his contract included a provision requiring him to endorse the country’s World Cup ambition.

Ronaldo might have had conflicts if he had taken part in a World Cup bid, as Portugal was also vying to host the tournament alongside Spain and Ukraine.

With the new Al-Nassr contract he signed after leaving Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly the highest-paid athlete in history. He has not yet made his Saudi Arabian team debut.

However, he recently witnessed them defeat Al-Tai while watching from the stand.

The club said in a statement, Contrary to recent reports, Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract with Al-Nassr does not include commitments to any World Cup bids, His main priorities are Al-Nassr and working with his teammates to make the club successful.

Cristiano Ronaldo, 37, left Manchester United by mutual consent in November 2022 as a result of his explosive interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan. He then signed with the Saudi Arabian club in December 2022.

Ronaldo has not yet taken the field for his Al-Nassr debut because he is still serving a two-match suspension from the FA for shattering an Everton supporter’s phone last year.

The seasoned attacker might take the field for Al-Nassr in their forthcoming friendly game on January 19 against Paris Saint-Germain. He might compete against an old rival, Lionel Messi, in that game.

The French juggernauts are anticipated to play against a side made up of Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal players, though it is unknown if Messi will be on the roster.
