On Sunday Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-0 in their El Clasico to come out on top of the league’s table. At the match was former Real Madrid star and Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese international was present at the Santiago Bernabeu yesterday to watch his old side beat his former rivals. Thanks to two goals from Vinicius Junior and Mariano Diaz, Zinedine Zidane’s men came out as victors and back to first place in the La Liga table.

Many people believe the Juventus’ star presence at the legendary stadium may have brought good fortune to his former side. But Ronaldo’s visit according to a close friend and journalist that goes by Edu Aguirre claims the visit was more than a courtesy to his former club, manager, and teammates. The journalist Aguirre who has been close to Ronaldo for years claims Ronaldo misses playing at the Bernabeu and could be considering returning for retirement.

“I know for sure that Cristiano feels the desire to return to Real Madrid. He has felt the affection of Madrid coming to the Bernabeu, he got excited,” Aguirre said.

“Now he is currently focused on Juventus but in football, never say never. I don’t know what will happen in the future. Nobody can know” Aguirre added.

Since claims of the 35-year-old possibly making a return to Spain, Juventus fans have been worried about possibly losing their superstar. Cristiano has arguably made Serie A popular and if the superstar leaves, Serie A could possibly see a decline in revenue and broadcasting sales. While it’s hard to picture the former Man United superstar leaving Italy, but as Aguirre said, anything is possible in football, never say never. No one knows what will happen in the future and if Juventus doesn’t win the Champions League this season, the superstar forward may consider other options over the summer. Till then we sit back and watch.

Meanwhile, Spain international and Barcelona defender Pique was quoted to have said Real Madrid ’s first-half performance represented ”the worst Madrid” he has played against at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid Captain Ramos, on the other hand, said he wouldn’t mind playing the same way in every El Clasico if it meant they would come out victors against their fierce rivals.

“Everyone’s opinion is respected. I sign up to win all Clasicos by making a first-half as bad as he says. The approach was different. In the first half, we left the ball and in the second we decided to go. They were not so fresh and we started to generate chances” Ramos said during a post-match interview.

With 12 games left to go, the win saw Zinedine Zidane’s side take the lead on the table by a single point. Barcelona will host Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou on Saturday with the hopes of returning back to winning ways. While Real Madrid will travel to Benito Villamarín to take on Real Betis on Sunday.
