Cristiano Ronaldo had won £278,000 from Kathryn Mayorga for an alleged rape scandal which has spanned over a decade.

In 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo came under the searchlights of the media after allegations surfaced he allegedly rape Kathryn Mayorga in a Las Vegas Hotel.

Since 2009, the former Manchester United forward has been in a long legal tussle spanning over a decade to redeem his reputation and clear his name off the allegations.

He has continuously denied any wrongdoing and insisted he had consensual sex with Kathryn Mayorga.

In his defense, Cristiano Ronaldo insisted he has been prejudiced by the attorney’s “reckless conduct” in the long-running case.

A year after the accusations surfaced, Kathryn Mayorga came out with a bogus claim that Cristiano Ronaldo had attempted to muffle the case and made away with the alleged scandal by trying to gag her from continuing with the criminal proceedings.

The 40-year-old said Ronaldo wanted to pay her about £275,000 which she refused before proceeding to file criminal proceedings eight years later, seeking millions in compensation.

However, last July, Kathryn Mayorga suffered a big blow when a US Court dismissed her appeal due to how she sourced her document to file the case, asking for compensation.

Although the court decision was a prelude to what is to come, the case was far from settled.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has incurred over £500,000 as the case continues to drag on with no end in sight.

Cristiano Ronaldo continued to proclaim his innocence and has spoken of the damaging impact of Kathryn’s allegations on his reputation and family.

Now, it appears the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus forward has been vindicated after the latest court judgment.

According to the Sun, Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly won £278,000 from his rape accuser’s lawyer for acting in “bad faith” over bogus sex claims.

Jennifer Dorsey, a US Judge, who delivered the judgment, ordered Kathryn Mayorga’s lawyer Leslie Stovall to personally hand over the cash to the world’s highest-paid sportsman.

According to the Judge, Ronaldo would not have incurred a majority of the fees and costs that he spent on this litigation had it not been for the plaintiff’s counsel’s bad faith.

The judge also accused Stovall of tainting the case “beyond redemption” with his use of hacked documents detailing discussions between Ronaldo and his lawyers about the rape allegations.

Ronaldo and his lawyer have repeatedly said the documents were forged in an attempt to defame the footballer.

Cristiano Ronaldo has now bagged more than half of the £506,000 in legal fees which he has expended in the course of the trial.

Why Kathryn Mayorga Case is thrown out

As maintained by the Judge, Kathryn Mayorga had sourced her documents backing her claims through illicit means. The judge brandished Mayorga’s allegations as false and blamed both Mayorga and her lawyer for using fake and hacked documents to back up their claims.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo was blamed by the Judge for the long duration of the case.

“Ronaldo shares at least part of the blame for this case dragging on for as long as it did although he had to recognize its dubious underpinnings,” the judge said.

When the accusation surfaced, Cristiano Ronaldo was 24 while Kathryn Mayorga was 25.

The former Man United forward was on holiday in the United States with his brother-in-law and cousin when he met Kathryn Mayorga in a nightclub.
