Ronaldo played for United for the first time in this summer preseason on Sunday, July 30, 2022. The team’s failure to make the Champions League last season prompted the Portugal captain to indicate his wish to quit United, but Erik ten Hag is said to be adamant that his number seven must stay at the club beyond this summer transfer window.

Ronaldo was re-signed by United from Juventus last summer, but the 37-year-old has expressed to the club his wish to play in the Champions League after United recorded their worst Premier League season to date.

During the preseason game against Rayo Vallecano Before the final whistle, Ronaldo, who had been replaced at halftime, was seen leaving Old Trafford with Diogo Dalot, and Liverpool icon Nicol wasn’t pleased.

“The one thing it tells you is he’s completely disengaged with the club and the team, as simple as that,” he explained.

“I’ve seen and I know players and I’ve done it myself who have left before the end of the game but I’ve not been in the team, I’ve not been in the squad and I’ve been ready to leave – I’ve been disgruntled. He’s uninterested in what’s going on at the club. This guy actually played and then left before the end, which screams “get me out of here.”

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to duty for Manchester United against Rayo Vallecano, but it appears like he left Old Trafford before the final horn.

Ronaldo has been absent from United’s preseason to this point due to rumors that he wants to leave the team.

The team explained Ronaldo’s continuing absence as being due to “personal issues.”

Ronaldo, though, made a comeback when the Red Devils played host to Rayo Vallecano in their final pre-season friendly on Sunday.

When the Portuguese superstar first came out of the tunnel to warm up at the Threatre of Dreams, he appeared to receive a positive reaction.

The sole change Erik ten Hag made at halftime was to replace Ronaldo, who had played for the opening 45 minutes of the friendly, with Amad Diallo.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner didn’t appear to be match-ready throughout his 45 minutes, which is probably not surprising given that the majority of the players had already participated in several friendlies before the game.

Within a few minutes of entering the game as his replacement, Diallo, scored the game’s first goal.

However, after Alvaro Garcia’s equalizer with 30 minutes left, United ended their preseason campaign in a tie.

It’s debatable, however, whether Ronaldo watched the second half. This is due to reports that he departed the stadium before the final horn.
