Ronaldo slams critics of his bombshell interview

Earlier today, November 21, the wantaway striker showed up for a press conference for the first time since he joined the Portugal national team after his controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

The Portuguese star granted a bombshell interview that sent the social media buzzing. Manchester United and Erik Ten Hag were forced to initiate moves to terminate Ronaldo’s contract after the interview.

Ronaldo blasted the Glazers, Erik Ten hag, including his former teammates – Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney for their incessant criticisms.

He decried the poor and deplorable state of the club the incapable hands of the Glazers and said he had not spoken to them since he joined the team.

After the interview, Ronaldo joined the Portuguese national team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and had cut a relaxed and calm figure despite the barrage of negative reactions.

There were speculations that this might affect his mood and, by extension, his performance in the tournament.

A seemingly innocent exchange of pleasantries between him and Bruno Fernandes was interpreted as bitter exchange by the media emanating from the interview.

Bruno Fernandes later came out to debunk the rumors, saying he is on good terms with Ronaldo and did not even hear of the interview.

The media has been looking for an opportunity to get in touch with Ronaldo after the interview, and were granted a rare chance when the five times Ballon d”Or winner showed up unannounced in Portugal training ground press conference to the shock of all.

He answered myriads of questions thrown at him and endeavored to put to rest all the controversies he raised in his tell-all interview.

When asked whether the 2022 World Cup will settle the debate on who is the greatest player ever, Cristiano Ronaldo said the World Cup could not settle the debate as there will be more talented players that are even far better than him and his rival, Lions Messi.

“Even if I win the World Cup, that will continue. Some more than me, some less. It’s like that. Some blonde. Some brunettes”, Ronaldo noted.

On the barrage of criticisms that has been thrown at him after his interview with Morgan, The Portuguese star referred to himself as “bullet proof” and an “iron clad,” and urged the media to stop asking other players about him.

On the reported frosty exchange with national and club teammate Bruno Fernando, he revealed he was just jokingly asking why Fernandes arrived late, whether he traveled by boat.

Cristiano Ronaldo interview with Morgan came just days to the kickoff of the World Cup. It was assumed that the former Real Madrid and Juventus striker must have anticipated the consequences of the explosive interview. Hence the short timing before the World Cup to buy some time off from Old Trafford.

“Timing is always timing. From your side, it is easy to see why we can always choose timings. Sometimes you write the truth. Sometimes you write lies. I don’t have to worry about what others think. I talk when I want to. Everyone knows who I am and what I believe in”, Ronaldo said.

Meanwhile, Manchester United has begun the process of terminating Ronaldo’s contract, but it appears the wantaway striker is focused on what will probably be his last World Cup with Portugal.

Fellow teammates have confirmed that their teammate has been in top shape in the training session and is ready for the World Cup challenge.
