Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo was left with a damaged £1.7million Bugatti Veyron after his bodyguard crashed it on his way to his £5.5million yacht in Spain.

Recall that Cristiano Ronaldo had a troubled 2021-2022 season at Manchester United and has been trying to use the ongoing summer break to escape from the remnant of the dramatic season. But it seems controversies always find a way of locating the 37-year-old Portuguese football icon no matter how hard he tries to run away from them.

The most recent of such controversies is that one of his bodyguards crashed his Bugatti Veyron which is worth £1.7million while using it to escort the footballer and his family to his £5.5 million superyachts.

For some days now, Ronaldo, his lover, Georgina Rodriguez, and the footballer’s children, Cristiano Jr., Eva and Matteo, Alana, and Bella Esmeralda have been chilling in Ronaldo’s £5.5m Azimut Grande superyacht, which is moored in Port Adriano in the south-west of Majorca, Spain.

It was at the location that Ronaldo and the rest of his family celebrated Cristiano’s 12th year birthday a couple of days ago as all members of the family try to cool off from all the mixed feelings that come with living in England.

Recall that after Ronaldo left Juventus and returned to Manchester United in August 2021, his partner, Georgina became pregnant and was expecting to give birth to twins. Unfortunately, one of the twins died shortly after delivery.

In the same period, Cristiano Ronaldo failed to help Manchester United qualify for the Champions League despite scoring 18 league goals for the club. He also failed to help the club win any major title throughout the 2021-2022 season.

Hence, if the 5 times Ballon d’Or winner stays at the club beyond this summer, he would not play Champions League football for the first time in his football career as United finished 6th last season which qualified them for Europa League football.

Amid that, Manchester United have appointed Erik ten Hag who has been trying to restructure things at the club making Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford uncertain.

While Ronaldo is trying to think over all that and plan for a way forward with his immediate family in Spain, his bodyguard decided to add to his list of worries. Futballnews gathered that his bodyguard was driving the footballer’s Bugatti Veyron in a convoy escorting Ronaldo to Port Adriano where his superyacht is moored before the guard drifted off the road and crashed the luxurious car into a stone wall.

Fortunately for Ronaldo and his family, no member of the family was inside the damaged car except the bodyguard as Ronaldo and his family were in another car in the convoy.

Hence, the footballer and his family were saved as they continued their journey to Ronaldo’s luxurious superyacht where they have been enjoying the summer break.

At the time of publishing this report, the level of damage to the Bugatti Veyron and cause of the accident have not been confirmed; However, sources confirmed that the bodyguard was not injured.

Futballnews can confirm that the accident happened near Joan March Hospital in the municipality of Bunyola, Spain. The scene is not too far from the luxury villa Ronaldo rented for himself and his family for the summer break.

The £1.7million Bugatti Veyron is one of the most expensive cars in Ronaldo’s fleet of cars reportedly worth over 17 million. Cristiano Ronaldo bought the Bugatti Veyron as a gift to himself after helping Portugal to win the 2016 European Championship.

A scene of the accident.

A source quoted by The Sun said: “The car smashed into a wall but there was only material damage with no one injured and the driver accepted full responsibility for what happened.

“The information about who was behind the wheel and what occurred is registered on a police database and is there for a court or officers to access if any further investigations need to be conducted.

“But it is more a case of the information needing to be registered so the owner of the property that was damaged can put in a compensation claim and use the police report as a back-up in case there is any dispute down the line about how the damage was done.”

Another source quoted by The Sun added: “The accident happened on a minor road near Joan March Hospital.

“The car appears to have come off the road and has hit a wall which forms part of the protection to a house with a gas canister deposit behind it.

“An employee of Cristiano’s was apparently driving at the time and not the footballer himself.

“Cristiano was not at the scene when officers arrived and nor was the person who officers were told had been driving the car at the time of the accident.”
