Cristiano Ronaldo has put his name in Juventus record book one again. This time around, it was about personal achievement in goals.

The Portuguese talisman is now the first Bianconerri player in 60 years to score 25 league goals. He Did it a fashionable way by breaking a free-kick duck.

Ronaldo, who used to be a dead ball specialist, has not been scoring from freekick for a while now. He has now joined Omar Sívori, who achieved the feat in 1960-61 in the record books.

Ronaldo hit the mark with his first Serie A freekick goal on Saturday against Torino in the Turin derby, which ended in a convincing 4-1 victory for the league leaders.

Next for Cristiano Ronaldo is the Capocannoniere

Scoring his goal number 25 in 26th appearance shows that Ronaldo at 35 is still maintaining his remarkable standards throughout the current campaign. Next on his target will be the Serie A golden booth known as  Capocannoniere crown. He is four goals behind the current top scorer Ciro Immobile.  The Lazio frontman couldn’t find the back of the net for his team when AC Milan whitewashed them 3-0 at home.

The  35-year-old Portuguese captain is still a model of consistency as he also aims to help Juve back to the top of the table this season, in the quest for their 9th Serie  A title with seven points separating them from second-placed Lazio.

Although he lost the last Ballon d’Or award to Lionel Messi, Ronaldo enjoyed his debut campaign in Italy, scoring only 21 league goals. He got the league and was rewarded with the Serie A player of the year title as well. He has now increased the tally this time around, matching the efforts of Sivori, who helped Juve win the Scudetto of 1960-61 season, although lost the top scorer prize to Sampdoria’s Sergio Brighenti.

Unfortunately,  legendary figures such as Alessandro Del Piero, Roberto Baggio, and Michel Platini all failed to match the feat.

Ronaldo’s free-kick record time questions answered

Ronaldo’s exploits is not surprising having been known as a scorer, who raises the bar anywhere he is, making him a  complete package of a modern-day footballer.

However, there have been questions about his free-kick record at times as his strike rate with it is not the best, having enjoyed a stellar season with Real Madrid.

Saturday’s goal was Ronaldo’s first from a direct free-kick for the Bianconeri, with 42 previous attempts have failed to find the back of the net.
