As speculations continue to brew amidst a dismal Manchester United performance, Ronaldo has finally cleared the air on his planned Manchester United exit. Recall that the former Real Madrid and Juventus star opened up on his intention to leave Old Trafford last season.

The Portugal international was disenchanted with a Man United team that finished in the 6th position without Champions League football. Manchester United finished in the 6th position with 58 points; 11 points below 5th placed Arsenal and just 2 points above 7th placed West Ham.

Cristiano Ronaldo still has a year left in his Manchester United contract, and his call for an exit was met with disapproval from Manchester United, who insisted that he is not for sale.

The new manager Erik Ten Hag had effected his planned overhaul of the team with Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, and Edinson Cavani showed the exit door.

Faced with a depleted squad short of established strikers, Ten Hag needed Ronaldo to stay and has reiterated his resolve to work with the five times Ballon d’Or winner. Hence, the Dutch-born tactician had maintained that Ronaldo is not for sale despite the latter’s call for an exit.

Several top clubs in Europe were already linked to the player after reports of his exit call emerged. Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid, and Chelsea were reportedly interested in the player.

Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann had dismissed the possibility of signing Cristiano Ronaldo despite losing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona.

According to him, Ronaldo is a great player that every manager would like to work with, but his style of play does not suit the Bavarians, and the club cannot sign him.

Ronaldo was also linked to Atletico Madrid, but his heavy wage bill was a turnoff. The club needed to offload some players off their payroll if they wanted to sign the player.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid fans have already taken to an online protest against purported moves by the club to sign the player. Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes had declared that his client is ready to take a 30% pay cut to join any team with a Champions League offer; a move which was considered a staple offer to ease Ronaldo’s switch from Old Trafford to the Spanish capital.

Ronaldo’s Manchester United future remains uncertain, with the team languishing at the bottom of the Premier League table after suffering heavy defeats in the first two Premier League matches.

Ronaldo frowned at a dismal first performance of the team in their Premier League opener against Brighton. He came off the bench in the second half, but the Red Devils could only manage an own goal conceded by the visitors. They suffered a 2-1 shock home defeat at the hand of the Seagulls.

Against Brentford, it was worse. The Bees pulled a classic first-half rout, smashing United 4-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Ronaldo could again be disappointed as he furiously walked off the pitch after the game. Purported reports of a move to terminate his contract emerged a report that was later debunked by the club.

Recent developments at Old Trafford have inevitably fueled speculations on Ronaldo’s Man United future. Sources close to the Old Trafford club have disclosed that Manchester United have now considered a u-turn on their decision on Ronaldo’s future at the club. They are reportedly ready to accept offers from other clubs for the player.

He has dismissed them as lies and has stated his resolve to address speculations on his Man United future in a fortnight.
