Cristiano Ronaldo has been given a green light to refurbish his residence in the city center of Portugal’s capital Lisbon. He got the go-ahead from Lisbon City Council this week.
According to Portugal outlet Noticias ao Minuto, the authority has given Ronaldo the approval to build his multi-millionaire euros apartment.
The 38-year-old Portuguese was previously embroiled in controversy over the home, which is the most costly in the city, because of an unauthorized canopy on the property.
He had previously been unable to start a new building project without the appropriate permissions, but he has already secured them.
In response, the city council in question said that it would investigate the residence; months later, it was reported that Cristiano Ronaldo had opted to take down the plan.
As opposed to canopies, the Lisbon City Council has given him permission to construct a pergola to provide shade.
In 2021, Ronaldo’s partner Georgina Rodriguez revealed the remodeling when she posted a video of an unplanned metal addition to the terrace.
“A lack of respect” that was carried out “without the agreement of architects, neighbors and without an approved proposal,” said architect José Mateus who was a designer of the flat.
According to an insider, the property is situated beside Eduardo VII Park in one of the city’s most affluent neighborhoods and is estimated to be valued at over €7.2 million.
It features a spa, a cinema room, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and a playground overlooking the Tagus River, and it has a total floor area of 288 square meters.
The specifications of the home are also rather remarkable, as it spans three levels and has a total area of 2,720 square meters.
The outside space, measuring 544 square meters, features several plants as well as a large pool.
All the same, Ronaldo is presently based in Saudi Arabia, where he plays for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
It seemed fitting that Al Nassr, who controlled play from the opening whistle of their last match against Abha, came away with a 3-1 victory.
Even though Al-Nassr advanced to the King Cup of Champions semi-finals with a victory against Abha, Cristiano Ronaldo went scoreless for the third consecutive game.
The team scored after just 10 seconds, and more goals in the 20th and 49th minutes sealed the deal for a win.
Yet their captain had a game he’d rather forget, despite a few shining moments in an overall lackluster showing.
What’s next for Cristiano Ronaldo?
The 38 year old Portugal superstar will be in action for his club side Al Nassr when they face Abha in the Saudi Arabia Pro League on Saturday, 18th of March, 2023.
