Cristiano Ronaldo failed to find the back of the net for Manchester United against Omonia Nicosia despite playing full 90 minutes. It was another nightmare for the legendary Manchester United star as his poor start to the season continued.
Cristiano is at the lowest ebb of his career after he floundered in Manchester United’s third Europa League clash against Omonia.
Manchester United secured a 3-2 victory in Cyprus with goals from Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, who bagged a brace in the game.
Cristiano Ronaldo made his fifth Europa League appearance against the Cypriot club, who are considered minnows in European football, but was unable to break through to grab his 700th career goal.
Obviously, Cristiano Ronaldo was far below expectations in the game and did all he could to add to his tally, all to no avail.
His frustration with the team continued after the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, who came off the bench succeeded in grabbing the win for Manchester United.
Ronaldo had his efforts saved by the goalkeeper, and blocked by defenders.
He also hit the side netting and fly over the bar as he shot with his right foot, and then his left foot, from close range and from long distance.
It was clearly a bad day for the Portugal international. Ronaldo had a glorious chance to score but contrived to hit the post when Diogo Dalot presented him with a golden opportunity that was considered an open net.
With five minutes to play, Manchester United held onto their precarious lead and were desperately trying to get Ronaldo on the score sheet as the whole team join forces together to set up the beleaguered Portugal star, all to no avail.

In the 90th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo went for a goal by himself instead of passing the ball to Anthony Martial, who was very open and ready to receive the pass.
After ignoring the French forward, Ronaldo fired blank, wide off the far post.
Ronaldo came close again to breaking the deadlock when Marcus Rashford spotted him at the far post, ready to tap home his cross.
Rashford shanked the pass, missing his team-mate completely, and ended Ronaldo’s hopes of scoring his 700th club career goal against a less fancied team.
These are definitely strange times for Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United. He has not gone down so low in the pecking order relinquishing first team appearance for Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
In his bright and glorious days, Rashford and Martial would not near the Portuguese star. But things have changed.
Making only Europa League appearances for the team and just cameos in the Premier League is an indication that Ronaldo has lost his place in Erik Ten Hag’s team.
Christian Ronaldo may likely pick his form at Old Trafford, but it will not be under Erik Ten Hag as things stand. But if things continue like this for the five time Ballon d’Or winner, the 37-year-old Portuguese football icon might be too frustrated to continue playing professional football.
