Cristiano Ronaldo might be Chelsea’s latest signing as reports have it that new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly met with the Portuguese agent last week.

To buy the west London club from its longtime owner Roman Abramovich, American businessman Todd Boehly fronted a group with Clearlake Capital over a month ago.

After Marina Granovskaia left Stamford Bridge after 19 years, a new board of directors has been appointed. Boehly has appointed himself interim sporting director in a striking move.

The onus will be on Chelsea’s new co-owner to fix this given that they have not yet made any new signing this summer. He is proactively addressing the matter behind the scenes.

Last week, Boehly met with super-agent Jorge Mendes, whose clients include Cristiano Ronaldo, in Portugal.

It is believed that the topics covered included Ronaldo’s condition and the possibility of him joining Chelsea this summer. The two-year contract that the 37-year-old Portugal international signed when he returned to Manchester United for a second stint last summer has 12 months left on it. He previously spent 12 years playing in Spain and Italy.

At the time of publishing this report, United want to keep him at Old Trafford. It is unknown at this point whether Chelsea will wish to pursue the option, which is also thought to have been discussed with frequent German champions Bayern Munich.

Ronaldo has no issues with Erik ten Hag, the team’s new manager, and is said to still have a strong attachment for Manchester United.

“I was and still am very happy to be here,” Ronaldo admitted in a recent interview.

“I know Ten Hag did a fantastic job for Ajax and that he’s an experienced coach but we need to give him time and things need to change the way he wants.“

“hope we have success. I wish him the best. We are happy and excited. Let’s believe that next year we are going to win trophies. I believe that Manchester will be where they belong. Sometimes it takes time, but I still believe.”

The former Real Madrid and Juventus forward’s love for the team is undeniable, but there are rumors that he is worried about United’s lack of transfer action this summer.

Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona and Christian Eriksen, a fellow midfielder who is a free agent once his contract with Brentford expires this month, are both being pursued by United, but no agreements have been reached yet.

Ronaldo reportedly wants United to match his ambition by bolstering the team in order for them to be competitive at the highest level. Their local competitors have already strengthened their respective starting XIs during this transfer window, most notably Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal.

Erling Haaland, Norway International, joined City’s Premier League-winning team, and Darwin Nunez, a forward from Benfica, was added to Jurgen Klopp’s forward line at Anfield.

With 24 goals in all competitions, Ronaldo finished the 2021–22 season as United’s leading scorer. He will not participate in Europe’s top club competition next season since that was insufficient to enable his team qualify for the Champions League.

Would this transfer deal be possible? Only time will tell as Chelsea fans that Stan Cristiano Ronaldo are already all over social media wishing that the deal should happen. See some of their tweets below:
