Cristiano Ronaldo of United’s family expressed gratitude to Liverpool fans for their outpouring of support for him and his partner following their infant son’s untimely loss.
In the seventh minute of yesterday night’s league match between the two teams, Anfield fans sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone,’ joining fans of their fierce opponents in a minute of respectful applause.
Elma, Cristiano’s Madeira-based sister, expressed her gratitude for the gesture by posting the video of it on social media and writing: ‘Thank you for this Liverpool.’ ‘What you accomplished today has left an indelible impression on us.’
With a heart emoticon, she ended her message.
‘Way beyond football,’ Katia said below her own video set to the chorus of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone,’ which she posted from her home in Brazil.
The sisters and their mother, Dolores Aveiro, also showed that they are putting their confidence in God to help them overcome the family’s devastating loss.
Dolores posted on Instagram in Portuguese, referencing a well-known Bible scripture that has helped many people through tough times: ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.’
‘Recognize Him in all your ways, and He will direct your paths.’
On Monday night, the Portugal international and his 28-year-old partner revealed that one of their twins had died.
‘It is with our profound grief that we must report that our baby boy has passed away,’ they added in a heartbreaking statement.
‘It is the most agonizing pain that any parent can experience.
‘Only our baby girl’s birth gives us the power to live this moment with hope and joy.’
‘We want to express our gratitude to the doctors and nurses for their exceptional care and assistance.
‘We are all crushed by this loss, and we respectfully request privacy during this terrible time.’
‘You are our angel, our beautiful child. ‘You will always be loved by us.’
Last October, the pair announced they were expecting twins, with Spaniard Georgina revealing she was carrying a boy and a girl in a touching video with their four-year-old daughter Alana Martina and Cristiano’s three children Eva, Mateo, and Cristiano Jr.
Because of the tragedy, the Manchester United forward did not play in last night’s match.
Prior to the game, a Liverpool fan account on Facebook offered a minute of applause for Cristiano Ronaldo and his family.
They requested that fans clap during the seventh minute, in honor of Ronaldo’s No. 7 shirt.
‘If you are lucky enough to be attending the game, please show your respect to Cristiano Ronaldo and his family by participating in the round of applause that will take place in the seventh minute,’ the post stated.
‘In terrible occasions like these, rivalries should be set aside. CR7 Jr., You’ll Never Walk Alone’
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp characterized the applause as the moment of the game’ after his team’s 4-0 victory.
‘My moment of the game was the seventh minute when the entire stadium showed pure class, so many things are much more important in life than football,’ he stated in a post-match press conference. We sympathize with Cristiano and his family.’
After the incident, Ronaldo and Georgina Rodrguez were supported by their relatives.
It was revealed yesterday that Miss Rodriguez tweeted a video of a family cookout just hours before they revealed the devastating news.
She shared a video on Instagram early Sunday morning after the meeting in the spring weather with her sister Ivana and Edu Aguirre, a Spanish sports reporter who is a friend of the footballer.
The Manchester United player wore an Adidas training top to the BBQ on Saturday evening, which is reported to have taken place at his home in the Cheshire town of Alderley Edge.
Ronaldo had scored a hat-trick in his team’s 3-2 win over Norwich City earlier that day, and he was seen walking away with the ball under his shirt as a compliment to his partner and the fact that they were expecting twins.
Given that Ivana – who lives in Gijon, Spain – was in the city with Mr. Aguirre and the journalist’s partner Julia Salmean, who is close to Miss Rodriguez, Miss Rodriguez is assumed to have given birth in a hospital in Manchester.
Ivana gave birth to her first child in November with her Spanish lover Carlos Garcia, and she recently participated in the Netflix blockbuster ‘I Am Georgina.’
The documentary chronicled the narrative of her sister’s journey from rags to riches, which began when she met Ronaldo while working at a Gucci store in Madrid in 2016.
