Two days after Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 60th career hat-trick, the 37-year-old announced the demise of his son. The baby boy died when Ronaldo’s lover Georgina Rodriguez was in the process of giving birth to him and his twin’s sister.

According to Ronaldo’s announcement, the boy didn’t make it but the baby girl did which means that it is a situation of mixed feelings in the family of the football legend.

Recall that in October 2021, Ronaldo took to his Instagram page with over 400 million followers to announce that he and Georgina Rodriguez were expecting twins. In December 2021, he and his partner took to social media again to announce that they were expecting a boy and a girl.

On Saturday, April 16 after Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to help Manchester United defeat Norwich City 3-2, the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner put the match ball beneath his shirt as if he was pregnant. Little did his fans know that he was signaling that Georgina Rodriguez was close to giving birth to a twin boy and a girl.

The twins arrived on April 18, 2022, about 24 hours before Manchester United’s must-win match against second-placed Liverpool which is scheduled to kick off at 20:00 on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

Unfortunately, the boy did not make it. Reports claimed that during the delivery process, the medical team handling the process encountered difficulty. The process became so problematic that it became impossible for the two babies to come out alive. Hence, the boy had to go for the girl to stay alive.

“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live in this moment with some hope and happiness”, Cristiano Ronaldo wrote.
