    Tottenham Hotspur center-back, Cristian Romero could not hold his joy after Manchester United captain Harry Maguire helped Spurs to equalize in the 72nd minute.

    Before Harry Maguire scored the own-goal, Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opener in the 12th minute. Spurs’ Harry Kane equalized via a spot-kick in the 35th minute.

    In the 38th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo restored Manchester United’s lead to end the first half of the Premier League game 2-1.

    Towards the 72nd minute, Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilon crossed the ball into United’s eighteen yard box. Unfortunately for United, Harry Maguire who tried to clear his box ended up clearing it into United’s net.

    A joyous Cristian Romero went straight to where a disappointed Maguire was seating reflecting on his failure. Romero decided to laugh very hard in the face of the embattled captain.

    In recent times, the 29-year-old English defender has been under severe attack by football enthusiasts due to how frequently he often commits errors that led to goals.

    Due to how frequently Maguire makes mistakes, there was talk that he should be stripped of United’s captaincy. But the club’s coach, Ralf Rangnick has stressed that Maguire would remain the captain of United until the end of the season.

    Towards the 81 minute mark, Romero was defending United’s cross and left Ronaldo who was standing behind him unmarked.

    So far this season, Cristian Romero has played 22 times in all competitions without scoring or providing an assist.

    Tottenham Hotspur are paying the 23-year-old defender £29,000 per week, £1,508,000 per year. He joined the club on loan from Atalanta on August 6, 2021. Romero is expected to return to Atalanta on June 30, 2022.

    On the other hand, Harry Maguire has played 30 games in all competitions so far this season. He has scored two goals and scored one own goal.

    Maguire who has been at Manchester United since August 5, 2019, after leaving Leicester City for €87 million has until June 30, 2025 before his contract with United expires.

    According to reports, Harry Maguire is earning £190,000 per week, £9,880,000 per year at Manchester United.
