CONCACAF Gold Cup 2025 is already in its preparatory stage and it is looking to feature about 24 countries in the tournament.

The 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup will reportedly feature teams from UEFA, CONMEBOL, CAF (Africa), and AFC (Asia).

The tournament will be an ideal preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup which is slated to be held in Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

Mexican journalist David Medrano stated this as he revealed that they would be looking for some of football’s elite nations to take part.

Before we talk about the most part of the tournament, we need to understand what it is all about and how it will be played.

What Is The CONCACAF Gold Cup?

The CONCACAF Gold Cup (Spanish: Copa Oro de la CONCACAF) is the primary association football competition for men’s national teams governed by CONCACAF, selecting the continental champion of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.

Every two years, the CONCACAF Gold Cup takes place with the competition taking the place of the CONCACAF Championship (1963–1989), and it first took place in 1991.

North American Football Union members Canada, United States, and Mexico are the only three nations to have won the tournament.

Teams To Partake In The Competition

The 2025 edition of the tournament will see the presence of teams such as France, Spain, England, the Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, Nigeria and Senegal, among others.

These aforementioned teams will be invited to the competition which is slated to be played in the summer of 2025.

However, before this, the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2023 edition was played between June 16 to July 16 in the United States of America.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup 2023’s final match was played at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California with Mexico winning Panama 1-0.

Copa America Unites CONMEBOL And CONCACAF

CONMEBOL and CONCACAF, two football confederations, announced that the 2024 Copa America will be hosted by the United States.

Also, these two football confederations of the American continent also stated that teams from both organizations would participate.

This means that there will be about 10 CONMEBOL teams and the top six CONCACAF teams as invitees.

And also, these invitees will only make the tournament with qualification through the 2023/24 Nations League.

It was also announced that the club tournament, will be made up of two best teams from each confederation, with the first edition of the tournament to be held in the summer of 2024.
