The coach of Everton, Rafael Benitez has stressed that he does not have a problem with the “Benitez get out of our club” banner flying around.

For over two months, supporters of the club have been agitating against Rafael Benitez’s reign due to a poor run of games, especially in the Premier League.

When Rafael Benitez replaced coach Carlo Ancelotti ahead of the 2021-2022 season, supporters of the club were having high hopes of winning titles and probably making it to a spot that would qualify the club for European competition next season.

But things are not looking as good as the supporters anticipated. Benitez and his players have been recording inconsistent results all season long.

So far this season, Everton have recorded 9 defeats, four draws, and five wins in the Premier League. This performance has taken the club to the 15th spot on the league table with 19 points in 18 games.

It has gotten so bad that Everton that used to occupy the 6th or 7th spot on the league table, are now 8 points away from the relegation zone which means that three defeats in the league are enough to push the club to the relegation zone.

Due to the fear that if Everton continue to lose games in the league, the club might end up being relegated, supporters of the club believe that the coach could be the problem of the club and has to go.

Hence, during Everton FA Cup third-round game against Hull City on Saturday, January 8, 2022, the supporters rolled out their “Benitez get out of our club” banner. Fortunately for the coach, his team beat Hull City 2-3 away from home.

After the game, coach Rafael Benitez told reporters that he was not worried about the agitation against his reign at Everton. The former Liverpool coach stressed that the problems at Everton are not new.

“What I said before – the problems that you try to fix are coming from a time ago”, the 61-year-old Spanish tactician said.

“It’s not that in the last three months we have different issues, so the issues are similar and you try to fix that.

“I have the experience to do it. I will try to do my best. If some fans understand that, they will support the team. That is the main thing, to stay behind the team.

“If they don’t understand that some of them, it’s fine, it’s up to them. But I will continue trying to do my best, be professional and be sure that we can improve what depends on us.”
