AS Roma and former Man United defender, Chris Smalling has once again been the victim of a break-in and attempted burglary at his residence in Rome.
According to Italian outlets, the burglars broke a window to get into the former England player’s house and tried to escape with a safe before leaving the scene.
The report further claimed that the operations to break into the safe were eventually unsuccessful.
Police were contacted and the forensic team is presently conducting their research.
Investigations are also underway to recognize what and how much was snatched from the house on October 31, 2023.
According to Italian media, Il Corriere claimed that the break-in would have been executed by a gang of professionals who were believed to have come from Eastern Europe.
This was not the first time Chris Smalling fell victim to burglars, it came two years after the former Fulham defender was reportedly robbed at gunpoint.
Chris Smalling was already a scapegoat for an armed robbery at his residence in April 2021 and had been subjected to another attempted rip-off more recently as well.
Italian media have acknowledged that the player’s home in Tor Carbone in the Appia Antica area was targeted by criminals on October 31, 2023.
The former Manchester United defender will report to the police on November 6, 2023, to announce any items that were stolen on the night of the incident.
