Two times UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea are reportedly getting ready to move for Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski but will wait to see if Barcelona’s confirmed bid for the striker will succeed or not.

The Poland captain has publicly revealed that he wants to leave the German Bundesliga champions after spending 8 years with the club and Spanish giants Barcelona is his preferred destination.

Barça president Joan Laporta recently reacted to the transfer saga by saying: “We have made an offer that they [Bayern] will be evaluating and we are waiting for the answer.”

However, Chelsea and French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring the move and will step in if Barça fails to finalize the deal with Bayern Munich. Multiple sources have reported that Chelsea are ahead of Paris Saint-Germain in the chase.

The Blues are looking to replace their former striker Romelu Lukaku after he went back to join Serie A giants Inter Milan on a loan deal – a year after his £97.5million move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are also closing in on the signing of Manchester City player Raheem Sterling and the deal is expected to be around £50 million. They have already reached an agreement with both City and Raheem Sterling.

Chelsea’s new owner, Todd Boehly is interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United but Thomas Tuchel is reluctant to land the Portugal hitman. But Robert Lewandowski is still among their targets this summer and they will go for him if Barcelona are unable to sign any more players until they make further sales.

The Spanish giants have already signed defender Andreas Christensen from Chelsea and midfielder Franck Kessie from AC Milan, both on free transfers.

Their busy summer transfer window has seen them sell Clement Lenglet to Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are still interested in signing their midfielder, Frenkie de Jong. The sale of Frenkie de Jong will definitely give them the funds to go for Robert Lewandowski before the close of the transfer window.

Lewandowski has already stated that his time with Bayern Munich is over even though he has one year left in his contract with the club. Bayern Munich will start training ahead of next season on July 12 and the striker is expected to join them, but he has no intention of playing for the club again.

Lewandowski will leave this summer having scored 344 goals in 375 games for Bayern Munich, winning eight Bundesliga titles and the Champions League, plus numerous individual awards in eight years.
