Chelsea’s disastrous 2022/23 Premier League campaign is not sitting well with the fans as well as players like Raheem Sterling.

Raheem Sterling opened a new chapter in his Premier League career when he made a £56.2m move to Stamford Bridge from Manchester City.

Being one of the few English footballers who have played only for the big clubs in the English topflight, the 28-year-old Jamaican-born footballer joined Chelsea in July, 2022 signing a five-year contract that will see him stay at Stamford Bridge until 2027.

Raheem Sterling made his Chelsea debut in a narrow 1-0 win over Everton in August, 2022.

Later in the same month, August 27, Raheem Sterling scored all Chelsea two goals, netting a brace in a 2-1 triumph over Leicester City.

The former Liverpool star was obviously on the rise in his new chapter with the Blues before the club took a sharp and drastic downturn under former manager Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea has fallen into three different hands since the sack of Thomas Tuchel but it appears Raheem Sterling has kept his status as priority player for all the three different gaffers at the Blues’ dugout.

Sterling has made 24 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, scoring 4 goals with 2 assists.

He has featured in all Chelsea’s 9 Champions League games since joining the club, scoring 3 goals and has made an appearance in the EFL Cup.

Unlike other big names in the Blues’ squad such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ziyech, who have struggled to gain a foothold in the club’s lineup as the club’s hierachy changes managers at the dugout, Raheem Sterling is a regular in Chelsea lineup.

However, the Premier League star has decried the club’s dwindling fortunes this term and how it has impacted his career.

According to the former Manchester City forward, his 8-month spell with Chelsea is one of the “lowest points” in his Premier League career.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sport after the club’s last Premier League defeat to Arsenal, Raheem Sterling sent a message to Chelsea’s hierachy while berating the club’s slump.

According to him, the next Chelsea manager must be decisive and followed by the entire team while the hierachy must allow him take decisions without interference.

“Personally, this is one of the lowest points in my career. This might sound a bit weird, but it is also a great learning curve”, he said.

Sterling seemed to blame the club’s difficult campaign partly on the club’s organization and hierachy and their relationship with the managers.

According to him, Chelsea hierachy should allow the managers roll with their blueprints at the club without any interference.

“I’m not the one to tell the club what to do but from what I can gauge from where I was previously, organisation is the most important thing. Having a manager that has the final say on everything and have his way with everyone having to follow that”, he noted.

He also hinted on the overbloated squad and the difficulties managers have had in putting together the squad to align with their style.

“The overload of players is another challenge. With new arrivals, there were some players that had to leave but didn’t. It makes it hard for the managers to deal with it.”

Chelsea’s dismal campaign in the Premier League this season was least expected after new owner Todd Boehly splashed a whooping £600m on new signings.

With the season rounding up soon, Chelsea are 9 points away from relegation. They are 12th on the table with 39 points from 33 games.

Under interim manager, Frank Lampard, the Blues have recorded defeats in all four Premier League games, apart from a back-to-back Champions League quarterfinal defeat to Real Madrid.

As things stand, the club are just few miles away from being dragged into the relegation-battle.
