Chelsea’s new signing from Barcelona, Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang, is in shock transfer rumors linking him to a PSG move.
The former Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona made a dramatic return to the Premier League after less than a season with La Liga giants Barcelona.
Emerging from a violent attack by Burglars at his home in Spain, Auabamenyang was among the top summer signings who joined the Premier League on the last day of the transfer window.
Aubamenyang, 33, was signed for £10m from Barcelona. He signed a two-year contract with the London club, with an option for a third.
But as things stand, Gabon international may be set for a move away from the Blues even without the expiration of his current contract with the club.
Why the early exit?
After taking over from Roman Abramovich as the new Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly assumed the role of an interim Sports Director, a position that he is set to exit sooner than later as his plan for the team finally settles.
Todd Boehly liaised with Thomas Tuchel to oversee Chelsea transfer decisions and policies throughout the summer.
Although underrated as an over-ambitious business investor cluelessly blundering into the transfer market for new signings, Todd Boehly made a massive impression in the transfer market.
He brought in the likes of Kalidou Coulibaly from Napoli, Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, Wesley Fofana from Leicester City, Marc Cucurella from Brighton, Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan, Carney Chukwuemeka and Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang.
Aubamenyang’s deal was one of the few former manager Thomas Tuchel endorsed.
After sacking Thomas Tuchel from his role and bringing in Graham Potter from Brighton, such alterations and drastic shifts involving the sale of Aubamenyang are expected.
The Gabon international may likely see another abrupt end in his contract after the Barcelona deal.
Aubamenyang only spent six months at Barcelona before the arrival of Robert Lewandowski caused the Catalans to auction him out.
The same scenario is more likely to play out at Premier League side Chelsea, with the 33-year-old already rumored to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge just weeks into his contract.
Aubamenyang linked to PSG Move
The former Barcelona and Arsenal forward might well be on the route to return to France, where he established his name as a top forward to reckon with in the game.
Before joining Borussia Dortmund, Aubamenyang was a top striker for French Ligue 1 side, St Etienne. Then, Christoph Galtier was the head coach.
The former Nice coach reportedly had a good working relationship with the Gabonese forward before he joined Borussia Dortmund.
A move to PSG by Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang will mean a reunion with his former manager at St Etienne.
Although circumstances beyond his control are propelling the Gabon forward to and fro top clubs in Europe, a move to PSG may not be in his favour.
With the PSG attack led by the feared and deadly trio of Neymar, Mbappe, and Messi, having enough playing time with the Parisians may prove a challenging task for Aubamenyang.
As things stand, he will likely fit into Graham Potter’s setup at Chelsea as he remains a top and priority striker for the new Chelsea manager.
Aubamenyang has scored two goals for Chelsea since joining the club from Barcelona. His current contract with the Blues expires on in 2024.
