German International Kai Havertz has acknowledged to struggling with a proper diet, affirming that he plays better after eating lots of sweets and taking fizzy drinks on match days.

Havertz has established how he put in efforts and couldn’t change his dietary habits at the West London side before he was told that sweets and sugary food were actually helping him in games.

In spite of firstly trying a new dietary style in a push to eat more healthily, Kai Havertz stated that it had the “complete opposite effect” on him.

He was afterwards given an uncommon diet by the club’s new nutritionist. The German eating pattern involves eating several sweets at half time and drinking fizzy drinks like Coca-Cola and Fanta after games.

In spite of Chelsea’s abysmal run this season, Havertz has been in good goal-scoring form, scoring thrice in his last five games for the team.

Chelsea played out a draw in their last league encounter

Chelsea’s last Premier League outing saw the club share the spoils with fellow mid-table strugglers this season, Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Kai Havertz also put the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out after his arm made contact with the ball as it went in.

The encounter ended goalless with both sides not having the ability to create any moment of magic that would result in a credible goal.

In an interview with German media outlet, Ehrenpflaume, Kai Havertz stated: “We had a cook in London at the beginning, who came every day and cooked for us.

“And I have to say, I did not feel good at all. This had the complete opposite effect on me. He said to me that this is because I’m a total sugar freak.

“You probably noticed on Saturday, I drink coke after the game and I need sweets and stuff, because that gives me strength and energy.”

Havertz reveals the persistent advice he kept getting from Chelsea’s nutritionist

The German added: “Then we got a nutritionist at Chelsea and he completely went to the other policy and said “Kai, you need the Fanta, you need the coke, drink one a day”.

“At half-time I get gummy bears, Skittles or something. That move has pushed my body and I am full of energy again.”

Chelsea remain 11th on the Premier League table after sliding down to that position following Saturday’s 0-2 loss at Stamford Bridge to Aston Villa.

Bruno Saltor has been handed the mantle of leadership to guide the club as interim manager till the expiration of the current campaign, following the dismissal of Graham Potter on Sunday.

The Spaniard had previously worked as assistant to Potter at Brighton alongside Chelsea and he has been given full responsibility to coach the team pending when the club appoints a new manager.

Infuriated that his former principal was let go after just 8 months as coach of Chelsea, Saltor stated in a pre-match presser on Monday before the Liverpool game: “Obviously there is a frustration because processes take time.

“We all know the situation here. But it is what it is and we need to focus on Liverpool. Thinking about the past is not going to help me now. I don’t know exactly what the promises to Graham were.”

The Blues fired Graham Potter after a horrible run of form across all competitions barring the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea are facing the possibility of not participating in any European competition next season if their form doesn’t improve.
