Carney Chukwuemeka has pulled out of the England U-20 squad for FIFA Youth U-20 World Cup.
Chukwuemeka, 19, decided to drop his England national team ambitions temporarily to play for Chelsea as the season comes to an end.
He is reportedly keen on seeing out Chelsea for the remainder of the season – a move that will not see him join England U-20 World Cup squad as the tournament kicks offs on May 30.
Carney Chukwuemeka agreed to the decision to stay put with the club after he was approached by the club amidst the injury crises in the midfield.

Chelsea are battling with injury in their midfield ahead of three blockbuster Premier League games before the end of the season.

Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante are reportedly ruled out of the three games. Mason Mount recently returned from injury on Monday but is still a doubt for the club’s next games. Hence, Carney Chukwuemeka has been asked to stand in for the missing midfielders.
Carney’s decision to continue with Chelsea throughout the season will come as a major blow to England U-20 coach, Ian Forster, who had included the youngster in his squad list for the tournament.
However, Evening Standard confirms Carney will not miss the entirety of the 2023 U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
At the end of the Premier League season, he will join the young Lions at the tournament but in the knockout stages not in the group stages.
Since joining Chelsea from Aston Villa this season, the youngster has made 11 appearances for the club.
He is yet to register an assist or goal for the club but has been deemed as one of the promising youngsters to lead Todd Boehly’s new Chelsea project.
