Chelsea have begun their January transfer business by signing Molde attacker David Datro Fofana for £10.5 million.
The 20-year-old, who made his Ivory Coast debut in 2019, is scheduled to have a medical on Thursday in London.
With the Norwegian team, he had a great 2022, scoring 22 goals in 39 games.
Graham Potter has already grabbed up Fofana before the transfer window officially opens. The youngster is one of Molde’s main players who helped the team achieve a league-cup double.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, has revealed that Chelsea and the player have reached an agreement.
He tweeted: “David Datro Fofana to Chelsea, done deal and here we go!”
“There’s full agreement between all parties, deal sealed.”
“Been told medical tests will take place today in London, on his birthday.”
“Born in 2002, Ivorian striker will join Chelsea from Molde for €12m fee.”
Chelsea spent more than £250 million last summer to bring in players like Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Carney Chukwuemeka to Stamford Bridge.
But despite a record-breaking window, Thomas Tuchel was fired a few weeks later due to a string of unsuccessful games.
Potter took over from the German and started out with a nine-match winning streak.
The former Brighton head coach, however, was under fire after four straight losses prior to the World Cup break.
On December 27, Chelsea will host Bournemouth in the Premier League to continue their domestic season.
After that, they will travel to Nottingham Forest before a match versus champions Manchester City at home.
David Datro Fofana
David Datro Fofana, an Ivorian professional football player who plays forward for the Ivory Coast national team and the Norwegian club Molde, was born on December 22, 2002.
Fofana started his career at AFAD in the Ivory Coast, where he was watched by clubs in France, Belgium, and Norway.
Fofana signed a professional deal with Molde on February 2, 2021, as a free agent, lasting 4 years.
On February 18, 2021, he made his Molde debut against Hoffenheim in a 3-3 UEFA Europa League match, scoring his team’s third goal in the 74th minute.
On September 22, 2019, the Ivory Coast national team’s 2-0 CHAN 2020 loss to Niger marked Fofana’s debut on the international stage.
Chelsea Lining Up Other transfers
Andrey Santos’ agreement with Chelsea is currently nearing completion. A 2004-born Brazilian midfielder from Vasco da Gama is anticipated to join the team.
Personal terms are practically settled; the deal is nearing completion.
According to Lucas Pedrosa, who tweeted in Portuguese confirmed that “Andrey is on his way to Chelsea!” Vasco will receive 70% of the cost.
Chelsea’s formal offer for the midfielder was received this week, as was announced on December 1st.
Chelsea had planned to do so after the World Cup. The child had the option between City and Newcastle, but he went with the Blues.
