Chelsea have rejected a 30 million pounds bid from Brighton & Hove Albion for the acquisition of Levi Colwill.

Colwill, while on loan to Brighton, emerged as one of the Premier League’s brightest young stars of the 2022–2023 season.

After Roberto De Zerbi took over as manager, the 20-year-old became a mainstay at the AMEX Stadium and played a crucial role in the club’s qualification for the UEFA Europa League for the upcoming season.

Sky Sports reports that Brighton has offered £30 million for the defender’s services as the club looks to sign him permanently.

Colwill’s parent club, Chelsea, are reportedly eager to watch how the defender succeeds in the preseason under new boss Mauricio Pochettino because they believe he is not for sale.

However, Brighton still have a chance if Chelsea make a move for midfielder Moises Caicedo, for whom they reportedly turned down a verbal bid in January.

According to insiders, Levi Colwill might be loaned out for another season after a preseason evaluation, but he would not be allowed to go permanently.

Despite Chelsea’s reluctance to part with him, the central defender has just two years left on his current deal.

Colwill’s current deal with Chelsea ends in 2026.

Therefore, he has been offered a new long-term contract for some time by Chelsea, but he has shown no interest in signing the deal until he is guaranteed significant playing time next season.

Should the Blues be unable to decide what to do with Colwill, the player could be traded.

On the other hand, Chelsea hopes of releasing 12–14 starters in the upcoming summer transfer window. Mason Mount, one player who may depart, has reportedly reached a personal terms agreement with Manchester United.

The Blues’ inability to sign Mount to a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge has made the midfielder a hot transfer topic in recent weeks, with rumors linking him to clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal.
