Chelsea are looking forward to selling Reece James and Conor Gallagher this summer as they look to comply with financial fair play regulations.

According to different reports, Chelsea are in danger following the point deduction imposed on Nottingham Forest and Everton for the violation of Premier League profitability and sustainability rules.

If the London club sell the homegrown players before the end of June 2024, their entire transfer fee will be treated as player trading profit in their 2023–24 account.

Earlier in the month of March 2024, Chelsea announced a pre-loss tax of £90.1 million.

Chelsea are looking eagerly to generate more than £100 million in additional revenue in order to avoid surpassing the Premier League limit of £103 million on allowable losses over a period of three years.

Chelsea captain Reece James made over 100 appearances for the London club. He won the Champions League in 2021. However, he had been struggling to play recent matches due to consistent injuries.

In the 2023–24 season, the defender had only made eight appearances under Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is looking forward to selling Reece James, who has 16 caps for England, for £80 million.

Conor Gallagher, on the other hand, has been tracked by different Premier League clubs, including West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur. With the contract of the English star coming to an end in June 2025, Chelsea will be expected to accept any offer that comes their way for the player.

The London club have spent heavily in previous seasons, which has included the signing of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for a fee worth £106 million and Moises Caicedo from Brighton for a fee worth £115 million.

However, Chelsea are significantly struggling to win games this season, with the club currently in 11th place on the Premier League table.

There are a lot of pressures on Pochettino to deliver before the end of the season, or he face losing his job.

The Chelsea manager has his eyes glued to winning the FA Cup to offset the poor season, but the inconsistency may continue to detriment the team urge for success.

What Next for Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino?

The Chelsea side will face Manchester United on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Stamford Bridge by 8:15 p.m. It is a must-win match for both sides, who failed to win their previous matches against Burnley and Brentford respectively.

Pochettino, who is currently facing team selection difficulties due to injuries, will be looking forward to winning the remaining matches of the season.

Erik Ten Hag, on the other hand, is eager to save his job, and winning Manchester United’s next two matches against Chelsea and Liverpool will be his major focus.
