Chelsea has made an announcement on ‘parting company’ with Frank Lampard after nineteen months in charge at Stamford Bridge.

In a statement posted on the club’s official website, it said the club management took the decision of parting ways with the 42-year-old painstakingly, as it is very tough.

“This has been a very difficult decision, and not one that the owner and the Board have taken lightly” the statement read

However, Chelsea lauded the managerial efforts of Lampard made to the young Chelsea squad but berated that the former West Ham player’s effort was not enough to take Chelsea forward as there was little improvement in the squad.

“We are grateful to Frank for what he has achieved in his time as Head Coach of the Club. However, recent results and performances have not met the Club’s expectations, leaving the Club mid-table without any clear path to sustained improvement.” the statement emphasized.

The release made an emphasis that this was the best time the club can partway with the 2010/2011 UEFA Champions League champion as the development was subjected to much deliberation which needs to be effected immediately to improve the technical know how in the squad.

“There can never be a good time to part ways with a club legend such as Frank, but after lengthy deliberation and consideration it was decided a change is needed now to give the Club time to improve performances and results this season,” says Chelsea’s statement on the improvement of the squad.

However, Chelsea’s owner Roman Abramovich has lauded Lampard’s effort at the club admitting his difficulty in letting him go. He made mention of the strong bond between him and the former England captain.

This was a very difficult decision for the Club, not least because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him’. Abramovich said.

“He is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances, we believe it is best to change managers.”

The Russian wished Lampard ‘every success in the future” and said he will be warmly welcomed back to the club

On behalf of everyone at the Club, the Board and personally, I would like to thank Frank for his work as Head Coach and wish him every success in the future. He is an important icon of this great club and his status here remains undiminished. He will always be warmly welcomed back at Stamford Bridge. He ended

However, in the statement, Chelsea did not address who will assume the position, making no further comment until the new head coach is appointed. But reports said former PSG manager Thomas Tuchel might be a potential replacement for the Lampard

The former Chelsea captain came on board as the club head coach in July the 4th, 2019, after former Juventus Maurizio Sarri left the club, with him leaving Derby County. Prior to his arrival as Chelsea’s coach, he spent thirteen years as a player, getting the accolades as Chelsea’s all-time top scorer.

Lampard’s game was the FA Cup tie with Luton Town last Sunday, with Chelsea grabbing an emphatic victory 3-1 it went. But Chelsea are placed ninth in the Premier League log, intending to come back into winning ways against Wolves on January the 27th 2021.
