It has been widely reported that the London club and the Spanish club have agreed on a fee of £18 million for Aubameyang to move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Recall that Aubameyang’s time at Arsenal came to a tragic end when manager Mikel Arteta stripped him of the captaincy, and he only joined Barcelona in January 2022.

Aubameyang has appeared in 24 games and scored 13 goals for the Catalan club since joining the Camp Nou.

His time with the La Liga powerhouse appears to be coming to an end, in part because the team signed Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich. Aubameyang is unwilling to accept the fact that his possibilities will be significantly constrained as a result.

Aubameyang and Thomas Tuchel will be reunited if Chelsea succeeds in bringing him back to the Premier League; the two previously spent time together when Tuchel was the manager of German Bundesliga team Borussia Dortmund.

The Stamford Bridge club has been searching for a striker all summer after losing Timo Werner to Red Bull Leipzig and Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly been seen at the airport, and Chelsea is reportedly interested in signing the striker, according to Barcelona insider Gerard Romero.

It seems that an agreement has been struck after several weeks of continued discussions between the two parties.

Aubameyang made a total of 163 appearances for Arsenal during his previous Premier League stint, scoring 92 goals. He was able to hold the FA Cup and the Community Shield when he was at the Emirates.

Aubameyang was mentioned by Tuchel earlier this month saying:

“This is completely unrelated to everything that is occurring right now, but I really enjoyed working with Auba while I was at Dortmund.

“Some players stay your players because you were very, very close and Auba is one of those players.

“There was always straight away this close bond. They always stay your players in a way. In Dortmund, there was never an issue.”

As the team looks to compete on all fronts this season, Chelsea will be hoping that Aubameyang can bring his best form with him.

In addition to Aubameyang, Chelsea is still looking to sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City and Anthony Gordon from Everton. Gordon’s agreement appears to be close to being finalized soon, but Fofana’s deal is a little trickier because Leicester is reluctant to sell.
