Chelsea fans were left confused after WWE superstar John Cena randomly posted a photo of Marc Cucurella on his Instagram.
Marc Cucurella was in action for Chelsea in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford on Saturday, 28th of October in the English Premier League game.
The Spaniard started the match as a left-back having formerly been used at right-back this season with Axel Disasi moved across the backline.
Despite his performance, the former Brighton & Hove Albion player was unable to prevent his team from yet another disastrous result.
However, it wasn’t the match outcome that shocked the West London club supporters, but WWE legend John Cena who shared a picture of Marc Cucurella on his social media page with no caption.
The American actor took to his Instagram to post a photo of the Blues defender in the team’s famous blue shirt immediately after Chelsea lost to Brentford.
John Cena, who came to the spotlight as a wrestling icon in the late 90s and early 2000s left the Blues fans baffled why he made such a gesture.
What has happened to Marc Cucurella?
Marc Cucurella has been struggling to find good form since his big-money move to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2022.
The former Brighton defender has fallen out of the Blues starting lineup due to his performance during the end of the 2022/2023 season.
The Spaniard has only managed to represent the Blues in six games in all competitions this season mostly making cameo appearances off the bench.
However, he was part of Mauricio Pochettino’s team that got beaten by Brentford, Chelsea dominated the game before halftime but things went out of hand as the Bees recorded their third straight victory at Stamford Bridge.
How fans react to John Cena’s Instagram post on Marc Cucurella
Some Chelsea fans believe John Cena might be taunting their club, mainly since he posted the picture shortly after Chelsea’s disappointing 2-0 loss to Brentford.
A fan was quick to respond, he wrote; “We just lost John what is this”.
Another fan said; “Please look away John not right now please”, as the Blues fell to their fourth Premier League defeat of the season.
A fan reacted by saying; “John Cena is actually so funny – no caption, just Cucurella”.
Cucurella is yet to react to the image further deepening speculations of what he meant and having Chelsea fans in the dark.
The 25-year-old defender was part of the Chelsea side that were unfit to make it five games unbeaten at Stamford Bridge. The result leaves Mauricio Pochettino’s men at the bottom half of the table.
Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo’s goals were enough for Brentford to claim all three points in the West London derby.
Chelsea have now fallen to 11th in the Premier League standings, with just three league victories to their name from then.

The Blues will be in action again in the EFL Cup round of 16 against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday, 1st of November.
