In a move to bring Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho to Stamford Bridge next summer, Chelsea have begun talks with the representatives of the England international. According to reports, the 19-year-old will leave the German club at the end of the season.
Sancho has been linked to several top European clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Barcelona. Premier League leaders Liverpool have also joined the race to sign the Dortmund winger for £100million in the summer. Sancho left Manchester City in the summer of 2017 and broke into England national team due to his impressive form in the Bundesliga.
According to France Football, Chelsea has taken a bold step to begin negotiations with Sancho’s agent. The report added that Chelsea will pay £100million for the winger, which is a club-record fee. The amount will surpass an initial fee of £89.5million which Barcelona bought fellow winger Ousmane Dembele in the summer of 2017.
FutballNews reports that Chelsea has agreed to sign Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech earlier in the week. The Moroccan international will help the Blues create chances and help score more goals for next season. Despite signing Ziyech, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has joined the race to sign Sancho.
The Dortmund winger, who was a fan of the Blues growing up, has been in excellent form this season, scoring 13 goals and recording 14 assists in 20 matches. He continued with his fine form on Friday night as he scored in Dortmund’s 4-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Earlier in the season, Sancho endured a difficult time and had disciplinary problems in Dortmund. The winger was left out of the squad to play Borussia Monchengladbach in October after returning late from international duty.
The club management fined him a week’s wages for contravening the club policy. He was also benched for a Champions League clash against Barcelona last month after turning up late for a team meeting.
