Chelsea Announce Signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall From Leicester City

Chelsea have announced the signing of Kernan Drewsbury-Hall from Leicester City in a deal worth £30million.

The Blues announced the signing of the highly-rated midfielder in a club statement which reads;

“Chelsea is delighted to announce the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City.”

Reacting to his switch to the London outfit, Dewsbury-Hall, 25, expressed his delight in joining the top Premier League side, describing it as a privilege.

”It is amazing to be sitting here as a Chelsea player,’ said Dewsbury-Hall. ‘This is a club people grow up watching and hoping to one day play for, so it is a privilege to be here. I’m really excited to get going and can’t wait to show everybody what I can do,” he said.

Dewsbury-Hall is Chelsea’s fourth signing this summer after Marc Guiu, Tosin Aderabioyo, and Estevao Willian.

He has reportedly signed a five-year contract with the club plus a one-year extension. With the move sealed, the midfielder will be expected to join the club’s pre-season preparations for the next campaign.

Chelsea new manager Enzo Maresca reportedly played a crucial role in the move, having worked with the player last season at Leicester City.

Brighton were also interested in the player with reports claiming that a deal was close before Chelsea hijacked the move. Some reports claim Dewsbury-Hall had undergone Brighton medical before the deal collapsed.

Kernan Drewsbury-Hall is an English professional footballer, who played as a midfielder for Leicester City but is now set for a new chapter with Chelsea in the Premier League. The Nottingham-born forward began his career in 2006, playing for Leicester City youth. He played for 11 years for Leicester City youth before his breakout year in 2017 when he signed his first professional football contract.

Dewsbury-Hall made his first senior club career appearance for Leicester City in 2017. He recorded 103 league appearances, scoring 15 goals. In the middle of his career with the Foxes, he was loaned to Blackpool in 2020 where he made 10 league appearances with 4 goals. He was also loaned to Luton for the 2020-21 season. At Luton, he made 39 appearances, scoring 3 goals.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall stats

Dewsbury-Hall made 11 appearances in all competitions for Leicester U-21s, scoring 2 goals. After being promoted to the first team, he tallied 129 appearances with 17 goals. While on loan to Blackpool, he made 10 appearances and 40 for Luton Town. Overall, Dewsbury-Hall has made 190 club career appearances, scoring 26 goals. He has yet to taste international football even at the youth level.

In 2021, Dewsbury-Hall won the Community Shield with Leicester City. He added another trophy to his records last season, helping the team win the England Championship.

He is the holder of the Leicester City Players’ Player of the Season award after winning the laurel last season. He also won Leicester City Supporters’ Player of The Season.

Dewsbury-Hall contract and salary

Dewsbury-Hall has penned down a five-year contract with Chelsea as part of his contract agreement with the club. His salary offer with the Blues has yet to be disclosed.
