Chelsea’s account revealed a payment of £49.75 million to former club directors during the club’s sale to American owner Todd Boehly.

Marina Granovskaia, who served as a football director under the Russian Roman Abramovich era, was made the highest-paid football director with a whopping amount of £35 million.

The remaining amount was shared between the club’s long-standing former chairman Bruce Buck and others.

Todd Boehly Consortium took over on June 2022, and it appeared they have paid all the departing staff in the club handsomely.

It came to pass that Chelsea lost £235 million for the 2021/22 season. The club became the first Premier League side to accumulate over £1 billion in losses.

Last season’s costs included £77 million for the impairment of players’ registration and another £18 million spent on legal fees.

Since Boehly took over from Abramovich, his spending has been exorbitant.

The new Chelsea account showed the American owner had spent £368 million on 18 new players and the restructuring of the first team management during the January transfer window.

Chelsea lost 16 players for a combined £22 million, but the revenue increased to £46 million after the end of the deadly COVID-19 football season.

Despite spending big this season, Chelsea are currently in the 11th position after 30 matches, with eight matches left to play. Chelsea are going to have a difficult time in European football this season.

They haven’t played Arsenal, Manchester United, or Manchester City, who are the top three teams in the Premier League.

Chelsea’s only chance of qualifying for European competition is to win the Champions League, but they face a difficult game against the reigning champions, Real Madrid, with the confidence of the Chelsea players low.

Frank Lampard, who took over from Bruno Saltor, saw his team lose to the Wolves upon his return as caretaker manager.

    Chelsea's account

The former Everton manager wants to bring back the glory days of his team, and his motive is to win the Champions League.

Chelsea had failed to score in their last two matches, which had been unbearable for the fans.

    Chelsea's account

Ahead of the encounter with Real Madrid on April 12, 2023, the manager had told the players that if they were afraid of Real Madrid, they shouldn’t bother coming to play because the match against the Spanish side is an entirely different one.

He believes everything will change if they defeat Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League. It is a big task for the club and the players, but they want to win.

    Chelsea's account

The last time Chelsea met Real Madrid, it ended in favor of the Spanish side, which went on to win the title at the end of the season.
