Real Madrid midfielder, Casemiro is not happy with the club’s fans for booing Gareth Bale at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

On the said date, Getafe visited the Bernabeu to play a Spanish La Liga match against Real Madrid. The match ended 2-0 in favor of Madrid thanks to a 38th-minute goal from Casemiro and a 68th-minute goal from Lucas Vázquez.

Even though Real Madrid were leading 2-0, the club’s coach Carlo Ancelotti decided to replace Gareth Bale with the club’s talisman, Karim Benzema in the 74th minute.

Immediately Bale stepped onto the pitch after replacing Benzema who needed to rest for the Champions League game against Chelsea on Tuesday, Real Madrid’s fans began to boo him as if he was not a part of the club.

Bale has not been enjoying regular game time since he had a fall out with Real Madrid former coach Zinedine Zidane and has not been enjoying the goodwill of the fans for over three seasons.

He became a black sheep of the club when he was perceived to love playing golf more than he loves playing for the club, a perspective about him that Real Madrid fans hate about him.

Currently, Gareth Bale who has scored 106 goals and provided 67 assists in 258 games for Real Madrid, has until June 30, 2022, before his contract with Real Madrid expires. From all indications, the club is not planning to renew the contract of the 32-year-old Welshman and the winger is willing to leave the club as soon as his contract expires.

Before things went so sour for Gareth Bale in Madrid, the former Tottenham Hotspur winger has helped Real Madrid to win two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, one Supercopa de Espana, four Champions League, three Super Cups, and three FIFA Club World Cup.

Despite helping the club to win all the aforementioned titles, Los Blancos’ fans went on to whistle the Wales international on Saturday, three days before their UEFA Champions League clash with Chelsea.

Hence, Casemiro who has been playing with Bale since he joined Real Madrid on a permanent deal on July 1, 2013, from São Paulo, said the club’s fans that were booing Bale, booed the club’s history.

The 30-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder stressed that if a player on the team is whistled at, all the players on the team are being whistled at.

“When a player is whistled at, we all are whistled at,” Casemiro said during Monday’s pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Chelsea.

“You can’t agree with that. I didn’t like it, because Bale is historic. When a player like that is whistled at, the history of this club is whistled at. I hope that people give us goosebumps tomorrow. We need them.”

On the Tuesday’s clash with Chelsea, Casemiro added: “They are the current champions. We need the fans. The key to everything is the [Real Madrid] badge, winning when nobody believes it. As they say: ‘Until the end, let’s go Real’.

“We do not trust anything, even if we played the best 90 minutes of the season there. It will be hard, we need our people [to cheer us on].”

Casemiro has played 41 games for Real Madrid so far this season in which he scored a goal provided four assists. His contract with Real Madrid will expire on June 30, 2025.

Casemiro is one of the players coach Carlo Ancelotti will bank on to help Real Madrid seal a victory over Chelsea on Tuesday.

Recall that Real Madrid defeated Chelsea 3-1 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final game. A win or a draw on Tuesday is enough for Real Madrid to scale through to the semi-final stage of the competition.

Below is the Real Madrid squad for the UEFA Champions League match against Chelsea on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
