Brazil will kick off their 2024 Copa America campaign on June 25, taking on Costa Rica before playing Colombia and Paraguay in Group D.
With literally a month and a few days left to the continental footballing showpiece in America, Brazil head coach Dorivial Junior has named his 23-man squad for the tournament.
Some regular names have been left out of the squad with injury-stricken Al-Hilal forward Neymar Jr leading the list.
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has also been axed out of the squad. Casemiro, who has won 75 caps with the Selecao since making his debut in 2011, has yet to play under Dorivial Junior, who assumed the reins as the new manager a few months ago.
Dorivial Junior’s decision to drop the Real Madrid legend from the squad could be linked to his struggle for form recently with Man United coupled with niggling injury issues.
Man United winger, Antony, remains suspended from the squad following his former girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin’s domestic assault allegations.
Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has not made the squad while his Arsenal teammates Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli have made Dorivial Junior’s picks in defense and attack, respectively.
Real Madrid attacking duo Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo have been included in the list, including Los Blancos defender Eder Militao.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker and his Premier League counterpart from Manchester City Ederson are also on the list.
