Carlos Vela is the latest player to react to the recent move by Gareth Bale from Real Madrid to Los Angeles FC in the Major League Soccer (MLS).

The Mexican international, who recently activated an extension agreement on his contract to remain with the Los Angeles Football Club until 2023, said Bale is ready.

He made the comments while speaking to journalists about his contract extension and future aspirations. The skillful playmaker revealed that although his decision was to remain with the MLS outfit if he didn’t re-sign, he would move to Europe.

According to him, there were top-tier European clubs who were interested in his signature. He also debunked claims that connected with a return to his country Mexico to continue his professional playing career.

“I did have some offers from Liga MX clubs, but my priority was to stay in Los Angeles with LAFC. If things didn’t work out, then I would consider the offers I had in Europe as my second option.

“But returning to Mexico was not really an option to continue my career,” Vela said while responding to questions at a press conference on Thursday, June 30, 2022.

However, Carlos Vela confirmed that he has retired from international duty and will not be joining the team in the 2022 World Cup taking place in Qatar.

He wished the country the best of luck and hoped that the younger players would be able to fly the country’s flag.

When asked about the prospects of uniting with new arrivals – Giorgio Chiellini and Gareth Bale. The 33-year-old said he was glad because both players bring a wealth of experience and ability that will make the team stronger. He also revealed that the team aims to win the MLS Cup this season.

“Regardless of the signings the club has made, I wanted to stay with LAFC and keep enjoying Los Angeles.

“The icing on the cake was the arrivals of Bale and Chiellini, and with these players, we have more opportunities to become champions, but that responsibility is an added pressure that we have to manage.

“Well, this league is very physical. If Bale is in good shape and comes with a good mentality and attitude, he will be very important because he is a big player that comes from Real Madrid, so I don’t have to talk much about him.

“Everyone knows how good Bale is. The only thing I can say is that he will have to work hard because MLS is not an easy league like many people think,” he said.

Reactions have continued to trail the news of Gareth Bale’s transfer to the MLS. The American League has landed some big-name signings this season, including Lorenzo Insigne and Giorgio Chiellini.
