Carlos Henrique Casemiro, also known as Casemiro for short, has revealed that Real Madrid were unwilling to let him leave for Manchester United, with Carlo Ancelotti crying when the move was finalized.
Casemiro, who joined Manchester United on August 22, 2022, from Los Blancos for a fee of €70.65 million shared this in an expository interview with Spanish media outlet El Chiringuito TV.
Carlos Henrique Casemiro had a stellar spell at Real Madrid, and he was a key member of a midfield trio that were lauded for their brilliance across Europe.
The Brazilian made 336 appearances for Los Merengues, scoring 31 goals and providing 29 assists in all competitions.
He won virtually every trophy available to his disposal at the club, including; 3 La Liga titles, 5 UEFA Champions Leagues, and 3 FIFA Club World Cups.
Casemiro was loved by fans of Real Madrid across the globe, due to his brilliance in the middle of the park.
Speaking regarding his exit from the Spanish giants, Carlos Henrique Casemiro expressed that Florentino Perez was not keen on the idea of him leaving the Santiago Bernabeu.
Casemiro said: “When talks were at final stages with Man United on personal terms, Florentino Pérez did not want me to leave.
“He didn’t want to talk to me about leaving Real Madrid. I had to talk to other people at the club!”

The 32-year-old added that after the deal for his departure to Manchester United had been finalized, he went into the office of Ancelotti and the Italian tactician began crying.
He said: “When everything was done with Man United, I entered Ancelotti’s office… he started crying”.
“He told me: ‘Case, I don’t know… I just want you to know that I love you! I didn’t want you to leave.
“It was the only moment where I doubted leaving Real Madrid.”
Carlos Henrique Casemiro was one of the important generals of Carlo Ancelotti, with the Brazilian playing his heart out for Real Madrid whenever he got the opportunity.
Casemiro is considered one of the best midfielders of his generation, and he formed a formidable trident with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
The trio went on to wreak havoc across Europe winning and submerging teams, including spearheading the team to a three-peat of Champions League titles, becoming the first and only club to do it in this nearly extinct era.
Anyway, Carlos Henrique Casemiro also accentuated his brilliance in England during his first season at Manchester United, although things haven’t gone quite well in the 2023/24 season.
Casemiro has been criticized for his inability to show the qualities that he displayed at Real Madrid, leading to many calling for his exit from the Red Devils.
He has made 76 appearances for Manchester United since he arrived in 2022, scoring 12 goals and providing 9 assists in all competitions.
The former Porto man was also crucial to Erik Ten Hag’s side winning the Carabao Cup last season, defeating Newcastle United 2-0 in the final.
